It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. I had a wonderful 4 nights at the Serindip. The staff were amazing abd special thanks to chef Ranga for his help and knowledge while I was in Kandy. Will definitely return for another stay.

Room and staff excellent except noise of water pipes surging in Room 202. Could not sleep until it stopped at 11 p.m. but then it started again - a loud surging noise every minute - at 6 a.m. so woke us up. Would not go back again. Manager said it affected 'all rooms' and it required a long-term fix. Said he 'was working on it' (a small compensation gesture?) but nothing happened. Lovely pool but only get 8 people around it.

Good place to stay

Built like so much of Kandy on the side of a mountain, Grand Serendib Hotel offers a standard room with a great view. The room works well in terms of comfort with a pretty little balcony. We had an excellent buffet breakfast included. The staff were very friendly and polite.

We really enjoyed our stay here. From arriving, the staff on the front desk and in restaurants were on hand to help every step of the way. Room was really spacious and we loved the balcony overlooking Kandy lake. Pool was small, but good to dip into! Although it was quite chilly. Really great location too. Only thing I would say is housekeeping was quite late in the day!

Lovely hotel set in the hills above the lake, with great views of the surrounding peaks, very comfortable room with a great balcony. There's a rooftop bar and restaurant which was lovely, plus a ground floor bar, restaurant and infinity pool. Breakfast was delicious with great choices and good coffee! The staff were attentive and pleasant.
