「Comfortable beds and pillows made for a restful night. The included breakfast was okay but I wouldn’t rate it excellent (as shown in reviews) because of the powdered scrambled eggs. They were terrible. I would prefer hard boiled eggs as a good source of protein to start the day. The cottage potatoes were good, the coffee had some taste and fresh fruit (watermelon slices, apples and oranges) were provided. Staff was friendly and efficient.」

「The best thing about Smith Rock Chalets is the view. To begin, the road in is over a mile (2.2km) of rough gravel. The shower has slightly warm water, at best. The wood kitchen chairs are uncomfortable, and the couch (hide-a-bed) in the loft (TV room) is equally uncomfortable. The bed was fairly soft but not too bad to sleep on. The weather wasn’t great while I was there so we didn’t use the pool or hot tub so can’t comment. I could not recommend the place.」

13. Seabank House Bed and Breakfast

Pictou

「Attractive Victorian House that’s well maintained. Rooms are on the second floor. The lights from a building across the road were on all night—the shades helped, but still a distraction. Updated bathroom. No hair dryer. No TV. Wifi was slow. The owners were very nice. Breakfast was very good. Easy walk to the 3 restaurants in town. Sadly, Pictou is kind of a depressing town, though everyone was very nice. Not much there to see or do. We did a hike outside of town.」
