"Our room was spacious and well kept. Thoughtful amenities available. We chose not to use housekeeping for the three nights and it was fine; we were able to be ecological helpful.
Location was excellent, one could choose to walk to some places but as seniors, we drove and could find our way around; map was helpful as well as the service staff, who were all friendly and welcoming. The shuttle service was excellent, frequency and coverage of the park very thoughtfully planned. Ranger talks educational. Public restrooms clean. It was a great time of the year to go without the big crowds.
As was expected, the food was just average because one does not go to the Grand Canyon for gourmet dining. However, our meal at the El Tovar Hotel was delicious; we had Elk Milanese! Reservations recommended.
Altogether a wonderful experience, refreshing the soul"
"Room was clean and ok the only annoying thing was the noise of the doors slamming at all hours that were very loud and woke us up. The staff was friendly but rush rush even though no one else waiting. The pool and hot tub was closed which was a bummer because it was advertised as it was open. It should be on the website closed till late March because we really wanted to go in after a long day of driving and hiking. Room was clean and there were extra blankets. "
"Slightly dated, but it fits the natural surroundings. The location is absolutely perfect!!! Everything you need to make your stay in the park comfortable is within walking distance. "
"Beds were awful… rooms need renovation
Restaurant was awesome and service was excellent… historic place and Hopi House gift shop a must. Nothing beats staying in the park at the south rim!!!"
"Was staying one night so when we got there they explained we were going to be put into the “extended” building where it is nice for couples because it is all adults. We were put there because it was their oldest building. If you are going to stay at this hotel do not stay in room 405 unless you wake up very early and you are a smoker. In addition to the rooms just being old, the bathroom smelled like someone was sitting in there smoking the whole time we were there. Another thing they should tell you about this room is that you share a wall with the the area where they set up breakfast so be ready to get a wake up call around 5:00 for breakfast set up. Not sure if all of their rooms/buildings are the same way but this was easily the worst hotel stay we have ever had. We did complete their room review but haven’t heard anything. "
