“The beautiful Irish countryside has so much to offer. When this is combined with the love for nature that the host Mary shares with you and staying in one of the shepherds huts all conditions for a perfect stay are there. Guidance to nice walks and places to see are part of the warm welcoming to Blackstairs Shepherds Hut. We enjoyed the quietness, a walk along the river Barrow and having dinner in the nearby town Borris.”

“This hotel was very asthetically pleasing, from the grounds, to the rooms, and even the bar! We had a triple room (twin and a double bed), which was compact, but still plenty of room to move around. We appreciated being on the first floor as it was quite warm outside and the rooms do not have AC. We had a lovely dinner in the bar and also enjoyed relaxing on the adjoining patio. Staff was very accommodating and efficient. Location is an easy 15 minute walk into city center, which was a fun area……

“We stayed in the cabin in the back which was…. Absolutely adorable and as pictured. I would highly recommend to communicate with the host ahead of time, because while the contact phone number is listed at multiple points on the property, it can be difficult for a traveler without phone service. I was traveling from another country and had data only, I was fortunate to have a local person lend me their phone so I could check in that first evening. That is my only advice for anyone wanting to stay……

“There is no air conditioning but ceiling fan only, it will be hot during summer months like July and August. The staff in general are very helpful and sincere. The breakfast quality is good. ”
