Nice getaway
We came for the sleepy town and leashless beaches, and included local tourism to beach days such as H2OBX which has a nice "vacation pass" for when beach swimming wasnt an option due to rip tides. We still had 3 really nice beach days which was a short walk away from the house. That being said there were some down sides. Being ON duck road made the deck experience null as relaxing or sitting on your phone was drowned out from the noise from commuter traffic. Also, the decks, outside, and underneath of the property was littered with spiders which we cleared with a broom the first day only to have them return with full webs the next morning - the property really needs sprayed by pest control which we saw other properties being sprayed during our stay so this is a necessary step for this area. Thankfully they didn't make it into the house other than one of our shoes in the foyer which we'd already been checking them before wearing just in case. Beds were too firm for comfort, pillows were flat, and having only blinds in the windows (no curtains) made for unavoidable early wakeups when the sun hit the house (avg of 6am). Also the hammock area in the back had its spider issues but the hammock itself had calcified bits underneath so we didnt trust laying on it for cleanliness and safety (possible dryrot we didn't want to be responsible for busting through). With a little more care this would have been a much more comfortable experience.
