  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Best week ever!

We had an amazing week at this beautiful property w incredible panoramic views! The house was perfect for our family and had everything we needed. I enjoy cooking so I especially appreciated the well appointed kitchen w great pots/pans and Henckels knives. Beautiful family room with plenty of seating for all and a dining table w enough chairs to have a sit down dinner for all as well. Everyone wants to come back to this house next year! Best place we have stayed in Duck.

Great house, Great location

Fantastic location and very commodating home for family of 11. We had 3 generations who all had something they loved, great views, easy private access to beach, elevator made it easy for the 80 year olds and hauling luggage and food and everyone could have some privacy when they needed/wanted it. Short walk to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend for multi generation and blended families!

Fun and spacious Duck home in a private but convenient location!

We had a wonderful stay at Heart of Duck for a few days as a family. Our children loved the access via the private dock/boardwalk to the beach--spending hours building sand castles, running in the waves, and enjoying the beautiful OBX landscape. The elevator was a bonus for toting groceries and luggage up and down, and would be a nice accommodation for any mobility-challenged guests, as the home has many stairs. The main callout is that there were very little disposables provided -- no dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, etc. and only 1 towel and washcloth per bathroom. It put us a bit in a bind on the first night when we arrived late and didn't have a chance to go to the store. Beyond that, the home was clean and we enjoyed our stay.

This property has an awesome location and the main living area and kitchen and deck have a stunning view. We stayed with 8 adults and there was more than enough room. We cooked in most nights and the kitchen had all we needed. Check in was easy and the manager was responsive to the needed requests. We felt the "surface" cleanliness was generally good. But, the house seemed like it could benefit from deep cleaning. The couches were comfortable, but seemed grungy and in need of upholstery cleaning. The stair banister and dining chair backs were sticky and in need of good washing. We were there towards the end of the season, so that may not be the experience of earlier guests. The beds at least in a few of the rooms were not as comfortable as we had hoped. It feels like for such a nice house some upgrading of mattresses would be nice.None of the issues kept us from enjoying our stay, but feel mentioning these things gives as close a picture as we can make it for someone considering the property. Overall, we loved our stay, the location with ease of walking or biking into town, views, and great kitchen for cooking were absolutely delightful.
