a little run down. pool was dirty, hot tub shocked you when you tried to get in. the dishwasher did not turn on when we tried to run it. I called the management company who said they would send out a repair person....the maintenance guy came and said "oh, you need a dishwasher repair man"....like, we thought that is why he showed up. It never got fixed. sliding glass doors were extremely hard to open and shut. and all of the windows had rot issues. On the upside, the location and neighborhood were great. Easy walk to the beach and the house had a nice layout. It just needs some updates.

Comfortable

We were kind of the accidental tourists here during the COVID 19 shutdown. Unlike many others, we were on the island when the stay in place orders came down, and travel back home was going to be precarious. And our previous rental could not be continued. So we rented this location. It was all that we could have hoped for. We tend to rent this type of location, second house back from the ocean so as to have the view without the sky high price. And that is what we got. The ocean view is especially pleasing out the living area window, partly because there is no deck rail obstructing the view, and partly because the cottage ahead is kind of picturesque. The living area furniture is especially comfy, the kitchen table is large and also allows a view of the ocean. We did not need the extra space, but the second and first floor add a large number of accommodations. Plenty of glasses and plates and pots and pans for a large crowd, although the dishwasher and fridge might not be of that capacity. Beach access is nearly as easy as having a true beachfront cottage, the stairs are well maintained, and the beach area was beautiful and clean. Our shelties loved it down there! Personal taste, but I found the Caffey's Inlet neighborhood more pleasing and less sterile than others we have stayed at. This house is one of those with driveways onto the circle at the end of the road. One minor negative -- there is no shelter for vehicles, so if you arrive or depart in bad weather, it is not so convenient. And that aside, anyone renting any accommodations in this area should be prepared for serious stairs. But on the whole, this ranks high among the many rentals we have had around Duck over the years.
