Breathtakingly Beautiful
This room is absolutely gorgeous with an even more gorgeous view. I stayed with my husband and it was perfect for the two of us. It’s not a large room but for just two people and a place to lay your head at night it’s perfect. It was very clean, came stocked with coffee, basic kitchen utensils, mini fridge and microwave. This was my first trip to Kodiak Island and staying here set the bar high. I highly recommend.

All about the views!
Captain's Quarters is a lovely studio room with just wonderful views over the water. It is just big enough for 2 adults,but no more. It worked perfect for our 7 night stay. It is within walking distance to everything to do downtown and if you don't mind a longer walk,you can even get to Safeway and Walmart. It's an easy 7 minute drive to Abercrombie State Park and other nearby trails, and also close to Near Island, which you can see from the deck. We really enjoyed our stay!

We are so glad you enjoyed your space and Kodiak…one note: the room has a pull out very comfy single bed and a high end queen bed. Some families of three might be fine in there.

Having coffee on the deck overlooking the bay was a highlight every morning and drinks in the evening. Place was very clean and hosts were very responsive. Highly recommend to anyone coming to Kodiak.

Authentic Alaskan Experience
This reasonably priced unit was located in a lovely spot that allowed us to experience the Kodiak community. It provided the basics while everything else was easily accessible with a walk or short car ride. We rented a vehicle through Ace / Kodiak Car Rentals which we used to drive all over the island. We had a beautifully delicate fresh Tanner crab dinner with calamari & chowder for dinner @ Kodiak Inn / the Best Western restaurant. We enjoyed local food and beverages at Kodiak Island Brewing Co, Java Flats, Harborside Coffee Shop, Aquamarine, and Henry’s. We wanted to try Kodiak Hana, Bean & Bloom, and Nuniaq but they were closed whenever we stopped by. We had a lovely visit and we would recommend staying at this VRBO.

Wonderful location and apartment
After 51 years we revisited Kodiak. We lived in Kodiak for 2 years in the early 70s. The apartment was wonderful, great views, good weather and saw bears, eagles, seals, and tons of fish. Only disappointment was not being able to revisit the Chiniak Air Force Station, where I used to work. The road was closed at the missing Chiniak River bridge. Drove most of paved road system. Discovered the Pacific Spaceport, big surprise. Probably won’t have another chance to visit Kodiak but loved our time there this time.

I spent most of my time outside. The views were incredible. The studio was very clean. It was a little difficult cooking, but, we made it work. We made bacon,eggs on English muffins. That would be the extent for cooking, unless you don't mind microwave meals. It was cute and just about everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!

Loved the views and the balcony at the Captain's Quarters. Was grateful for a previous traveler's advice that an eye mask would be helpful, as the curtains don't block out the long Alaska daylight at all. This is very cosy/compact and the kitchen area only really suitable for snacks, not much in the way of crockery and washing up a bit tricky in the bathroom sink after eating. But overall for a single traveller it was just what I needed as I mostly at out or got takeaway. Would recommend.

Awesome and easy!
The view and location are truly awesome, as described. All communications were very easy to follow for check-in. I was traveling on short notice and the host confirmed quickly. The space is cozy, has good books and I watched sea lions and eagles from the windows. I would be delighted to stay here again and I recommend it to others.

Fantastic place!! The boats coming and going we’re really fun to watch.
We had a great time watching the channel with all the boats coming and going. There were multiple openers across the island and the salmon fleet and tenders were working hard coming and going. The space was very comfortable and peaceful.

Truly AWESOME Views
Check-in process (self-check in) was easy as the property owner emailed us all the information we needed to find and get into the place. As soon as you walk-in you can see the amazing views you will enjoy for the rest of your stay. The apartment was clean and had everything you really need for your stay. The views from the balcony were amazing and you can really experience Kodiak as the locals do. If there is something that could be improved, is having a place to wash your hands inside the restroom. The toilet and shower areas are separate and there is no place for you to wash your hands other than the shower room. So, if someone is using the shower and you use the bathroom, you will have to wait to be able to wash your hands. It was not really a big problem for us. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to spend time in Kodiak. Thank you!

Cute room with a great view.
Very comfortable and scenic stay. The deck was an amazing place to relax and see all the boats coming in and out of the harbor. Host gave great recommendations for Kodiak. Lack of blackout curtains in summer may be a concern for some but we slept just fine with the regular curtains.

We recommend our guests that are light sensitive bring a sleep mask. There are black out shades in the room but we can't get them to fit the small windows up high, that have an odd shape to them.

Stayed here for a three day fishing charter. The Captain’s Quarters had everything we needed! We walked on the trail down by the water, enjoyed watching seals from the deck and slept well!

Stay was good and view along the park was great. Hosts are very easy to work with. Comes with everything you need to include a mini fridge, kuerig, and microwave. Only reason for 1 star less is that the parking spot for the unit I rented wasn’t available any of the 4 nights I stayed so I had to park in town and walk the 15 mins each night after work.

We try to always be available for our guests and problem solve any issues that may arise. We are upgrading the garage and the carpenters must have been using your designated parking spot.

The view, the view, the view.
We loved watching the tide ebb and flow, it was a wonderful place to stay. Yes, the eagles landed in the trees just outside, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable- as stated on the VRBO site. We live on the Kenai Peninsula, and came here while exploring Alaska. We will recommend this place to any friends or family coming this way.

Does not meet the needs of two or more people
As much as we loved the view and location, our vision was not to work out of a walk in closet to use a microwave and refrigerator. The quarters are much to cramped. Not enough space to move around in. Second, the toilet is a fall hazard. Therefore, a step needs to be put into place. Third, the guard rails out on the deck are in much need of repair to avoid a fall hazard. As a result, I would not allow my 12 year old out on the view deck. Other than that, great for a single adult person and the location is awesome.

This place is all about location and the view of the bay. We enjoyed the deck and watching the boats come in and out every morning and evening. It is perfect for a couple. My husband and I were out and about exploring the island and it was nice to come back and relax on the deck. The place is small but comfortable. Clean and has a large variety of books to read during your stay. There isn’t a full kitchen to cook meals which the two of us didn’t need but something to consider for guests who want this amenity. Thank you so much for your hospitality and sharing your home!

Restful and wonderful place to Kodiak!
The view from this BnB is unbelievably gorgeous! We so enjoyed sitting on the deck and sipping coffee, reading books, as well as resting during our stay. What a wonderful place to be! This is very closely located to downtown - as easy walk away! Gina and Mike are wonderful hosts and kept us well fed for breakfasts.
