I recently stayed at the M1 Hotel in Yau Ma Tei and unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about my experience. Everything about the so-called "hotel" was not up to standard.
Firstly, the environment around the hotel was not good except for its proximity to the MTR station. The area around the hotel was rather dirty, and to make matters worse, there were two coffin shops just meters away from the entrance. As soon as you walk near the hotel, you can't help but notice the unkempt appearance, with piles of unorganized stuff cluttering the entrance and hallways. The dirty and unkempt corridors of the hotel only added to the overall unpleasant experience.
Some staff at the hotel were not very friendly either. Instead of politely asking customers to sign necessary documents, some staff members would almost order customers to do so. Additionally, I was required to pay a deposit of HKD 1500 for my 5-day stay, which seemed excessive.
The most disappointing aspect of my stay at M1 Hotel was the fact that it was listed on Expedia that the room would be CLEANED DAILY. However, the reality was far from it. Due to the so-called Covid reasons, the room was only cleaned ONCE for my 7-night stay. If you stay for six nights, don't expect any cleaning or replacement of towels. I reported this to Expedia for the clear misrepresentation of the hotel's services.
