Everything went well. Situated nicely. Easy to get to the port and also the main shopping. Parking was close. Our room was as spacious as I had hoped.
Staff was great upon arrival and pretty much didn't need them after that.
A beautiful classical French hotel. Helpful staff, large well appointed room, high ceiling, air conditioning and a big bed. Good location for the town and the park. Lovely garden for breakfast, light meals and evening drinks.
This was such a beautiful hotel, and the staff were incredibly friendly! The bathroom was super luxurious and the breakfast was delicious. I wish we had booked more time here.
The hotel was beautiful and clean! The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had drinks at the hotel bar and it was lovely! I would say the location is great!
We had a great time: lovely room, in a beautiful building with really interesting shops and restaurants nearby. Very simple to get to by car and easy municipal parking.
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It is beautiful and our room was fabulous looking out onto an amazing garden. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We look forward to visit there again
Really beautiful hotel in a great area. Our room was quiet and spacious, and the bed was really comfortable. High ceilings, discrete decor and well appointed bathroom.
The car park was a public one, about 200 meters away from the hotel, but was reasonably priced and very secure.
We had a wonderful 2 night stay in Hotel Le Champlain. An exceptional hotel with very friendly staff. Perfect central location too. Highly recommended.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
The property gave off Best Western vibes. The carpet was old, the rooms were a mix of traditional and modern. That can be done well, this wasn’t. Our air conditioning was broken, so they put a stand up unit in the room which worked but was loud and meant we had to keep the window open for the hose to vent. The hotel offered us 2 free drinks because of the inconvenience. No lotion or anything more than shampoo and soap in the bathroom. The towels were small, relatively thin, but they were nice bright white.
They seemed short staffed. When you found a staff member, they were always willing to help, were kind, and had great attitudes. Often there was no one at the front desk and occasionally you had to send someone to look for someone at the restaurant to help you.
The outdoor space was nice. It had some good places to have a drink or breakfast.
The breakfast wasn’t the best. Nice selection of bread, but the pastries were grocery store quality, the sausage toaster really bad and the fruit was choper apples and grapefruit. The plates always looked dirty…I’m hoping they were just olds and had permanent marks on them.
The location was near a nice park. If I were to go back to La Rochelle, I would choose Saint Nicholas or the Old Port, but we made it work. The Town Is small, so you can walk to everything in 20 minutes.
We had an enjoyable stay in this very authentic La Rochelle Mansion. Staff was very attentive to details. Breakfast could have been a bit more exciting.
The hotel is conveniently located near to the bus terminal so making it ideal for arrival & departure from airport. We loved the central location with everything a short stroll away incl shops, cafes & quay etc.
Staff were very welcoming & helpful when needed. Our room was lovely, big, quiet, clean & serviced regularly.
Thank you for a lovely stay & we will definitely be booking again for our future visits to La Rochelle
We really liked this hotel. Location was pretty central and there is a public car park very close by. All the staff were very lovely. Breakfast was good. We were given a room upgrade to one with a balcony, which was great. The walk to the seafront wasn't too far. The only suggestion was that it would have been nice for the hotel to have made more use of its courtyard garden (maybe some outdoor lights for the evening).
Overall a lovely hotel and we had a very good stay.
The staff at reception were faultlessly kind and helpful. The building has maintained its history in the public rooms. The bedroom was very clean, a comfortable large bed and fully equipped bathroom. The hotel was located quietly away from the busy shopping streets but within a short walk of Place du Verdun, Le Marche and the old port. Would highly recommend for a stay in beautiful La Rochelle
First time to La Rochelle - had to use a public car park but it's just a street away. Off season so a skeleton staff - friendly and good English- but tiny part-time bar and expensive breakfast we didn't try. Had a nice terrace over looking a garden that was a touch... post apocalyptic- but it was quiet and the room we had all we needed. Lovely spacious building and very nicely located.
Tired public areas, they were short staffed so bar was closed. Rooms nice and newly decorated. You could see the hotel was nice in its day with some classical features. Very convenient location. Claimed ‘parking available’ but very limited space so we parked in the public car park 2mins walk away which was very good; big spaces.
