This unit was awesome and perfect for our needs while in Maui. The location & views are incredible. However, Vacasa had very poor communication during our stay and we struggled to get any kind of support for questions and needs that arose. On multiple occasions we were told by customer support that someone from the local team would get in touch to assist us, and we heard nothing back, which is unacceptable. It was also just generally difficult to understand HOW to contact them when we needed something. Do we respond to the multiple texts they sent? Do we email them? Call? We consider ourselves pretty tech-savvy and are even vacation rental hosts ourselves, but couldn’t find this info on our booking. Needless to say I was left with unanswered calls, emails, AND text messages. If you are planning on being independent & self-sufficient during your stay, this might still be a good option.
Lastly, we were very dissatisfied with the additional $17/night “facility fee” that the complex office collects at check in. The attendant literally held our keys hostage until I gave him a credit card to pay. Yes, this fee disclosed in the listing for the unit, but it’s just tacky and annoying. When I book a property, I expect to automatically get access to the property’s “facilities” (pool, hot tub, etc.) without paying extra at a different time. This isn’t a hotel where “resort charges” are customary. It’s a condo. If this is mandatory for the resort, the host should pay it and add it to the nightly rate, just to avoid confusion and complexity.
Overall, while we enjoyed the unit itself, we’ll be looking elsewhere next time we’re in Maui.
