Could be a great rental!
Our family has gone to Lake Lure over a dozen times over several years. Our family owns a few units there. We love it and have had no troubles in the past. Sometimes we’ll rent a unit there outside of the family if needed. This visit was disappointing. Incredibly poor communication from resort property management. To summarize a long experience: my wife and two daughters checked into front desk at 4:05 pm. On a Sunday. Front desk and restaurant are quiet. The resort made it very clear prior to our arrival that checkin was promptly at 4 pm. And checkout is 10 am sharp. Fees are associated with not following their policies. My wife and daughters were told the unit would be ready at 4:30. Great! Not ready. We need to inspect unit. At 5:00 pm not ready. We’ll call you no later than six. Great! No call. At 6:30 (she goes to them) and they tell her it’s been ready for an hour. Sorry we messed up. They get into unit and dishwasher is running. Why if previous guests checked out at 10am? No explanation given
The unit itself needs a deep cleaning. Pots and pans in cabinets were dirty, bathroom sinks had multiple hairs in them. Baths and showers had not been cleaned. No new mini soaps, only half used mini shampoos. Cobwebs, scuffs and marks across many walls and trim. Unit desperately needs to be repainted. Fridge full of sand. Bring your own pillows too. They were flat as pancakes there. Kitchen was sparsely appointed. This place could be special if properly managed.
