Secluded and Private Cabin with Amazing Views. Hot tub and WiFi.

Riverwood Retreat is a secluded cabin that sits atop a 300 foot cliff overlooking a horseshoe bend in the New River with breathtaking long range views. Inside, the cabin comfortably accommodates four people with a King Bedroom and attached full bath and a Queen bedroom with an adjacent full bath. The cabin will allow for up to eight people total with a pull-out sofa bed and futon in the living area. The cabin has a large living area with a gas fireplace, full kitchen and washer and dryer. Wi-Fi, Cable TV, Blu-Ray/DVD player and Bluetooth Stereo are all provided.

Outside, enjoy the large wrap around deck, listen to the river rapids from below and experience views from the hot tub that you will never forget. A gas and charcoal grill is provided along with propane and grilling utensils. Access to the New River allows for easy swimming, tubing, fishing and kayaking. Up above the cabin is a fire pit and firewood.
You will feel a thousand miles away from it all but still only fifteen minutes from downtown West Jefferson with its welcoming small-town atmosphere, multiple shops, restaurants and bars, and multiple grocery stores nearby. Less than one hour from Boone.

Celebrating 56 anniversary

Property was quaint with a beautiful view. We were out early in the morning for coffee and looking at the view. At night, having coffee and looking at the beautiful sunset and stars.

Wonderful cottage. Perfect for me and my wife for a long, relaxing weekend getaway in the mountains. Very clean and well maintained.I can’t stress this enough: The view is jaw droppingly stunning. Just gorgeous. Mountain views galore and a river below to boot. Just outstanding! A feast for the eyes!While there are a few homes in the distant view they are so far away you still feel completely secluded.Great communication with the owner on a few insignificant questions, e.g. is the grill charcoal or propane (it’s propane, thank goodness). The cottage is very well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, Keurig, etc. I brought some extra things and never needed to use them. It’s obviously been updated in some critical areas like the bathrooms.Plenty of sitting room inside and out (very impressed with the set-up. I really can’t say enough about this place. Absolutely no complaints. Well done owners!

Awesome stay

We found the cabin clean and tastefully decorated. It is surrounded by trees so if you are looking for a secluded spot this is the place. We loved the privacy. The view is amazing and we could hear the river below running. We highly recommend this cabin and look forward to our next stay.

Quiet seclusion

Sitting on the deck we could hear the sounds of rustling wind thru trees, the flowing New River below, and birdsong. Nothing else. An occasional car, some cleanup noise from the hurricane. Otherwise, Utter silence.The cabin was tidy, with all necessary items for our stay, the owner very helpful, a great place for a get away. The solitude was cathartic! Will visit again.

Great View!

The stay was good. The well head was frozen when we got there but got the water moving. The host was responsive and had a good attitude. I give 5 stars because the weather shouldn't give a bad mark to the owner or property. Clean environment, really cool view, and perfect for a husband and wife getaway. Not normally the luxury I'm used to, but this place was an enjoyable stay for the weekend. I would recommend this cabin to any couple looking to get away for a secluded relaxing stay.

Fantastic view

This is a great place with a fantastic view. Everything is as advertised. The owner gave us some of the best check in and out instructions I have ever seen. Just close enough to West Jefferson. Molly Chompers has great ciders and is only minutes away. Would definitely stay again.

The View and The River

The view is amazing. You can hear the water flowing down below the cabin. The host is easy to get ahold of if needed. The stay was just what we were looking for… away from others/everyday life and into nature. The Park Service has all parks closed west of I77. If you plan on taking a day or two to check them out, be aware.

Simply Amazing

We are still bragging about this property days after returning home. I'm not sure where to start. From the moment you walk in there is an at home feeling. The cabin is so well laid out for comfort. The view is beyond words for beauty and the hot tub certainly was very relaxing. But there was also a gas fireplace with a swivel tv with many cable channels for inside enjoyment. The wifi worked great and the kitchen was completely stocked for our needs. We actually spent more time in the cabin than on normal getaways because it was so complete for entertainment. The communication with Brian was excellent. To put it in my best words possible, it was simply amazing!!

Million Dollar View

This cabin is nestled above the New River and has an amazing view. Soaking in the hot tub, enjoying the natural beauty of the area was a bonus. Cabin was functional with all needed amenities. Bedding and bathrooms were clean. Recommendation- leaf blower to clear acorns off the deck. I would rent this property again. Communication with Brian was great and he was very responsive to a few questions I had.

I LOVED this cabin!!!

This mountain cabin is just amazing, I could literally move in and live here. The views from the property are truly expansive and far better than the pictures show. When we arrived, I was completely blown away. It was just wonderful to get up and enjoy the sunrise from the hot tub with my tea. Some mornings were very cool and completely socked in with clouds, other mornings were crystal clear. The sunsets were STUNNING from the deck. We regularly sat out at the patio table for lunch and dinner. Brian the host is VERY responsive and helpful, not that we had any issues. The cabin itself feels very homey and comfortable. The bed in the master was very nice, which allowed us to get lots of much needed rest. The kitchen is appointed with pretty much anything you could need as expected for a VRBO. There were plenty of towels, blankets, linens, etc. We loved how the property felt so peaceful, quiet and removed from everything. Having said that, West Jefferson is only 20 mins away so you can certainly get into as much fun in town as you want very easily. The hike down to the river is a good one to get your blood pumping on the way back given the incline, but its fine for average fitness levels. The neighborhood roads and driveway are certainly a bit steep, but all very safe for 2WD vehicles (assuming no snow). Amanda keeps the property very clean and I am a neat/ clean freak! Final thought, we loved it so much we extended our stay an extra 2 days - Thanks Brian!!!
