Great Western Hotel

"Prime location with sea views from the restaurant/pub. Staff were friendly and always smiling. Carpets are extremely tired and somewhat dirty and dusty, they need replacement or a big carpet wash! No air con and no fridge in both rooms we had booked. With the heat you need air con. There was a fan supplied which helped. Breakfast was pretty good with limited continental items but you can also order a meal from a set menu. Staff were nice."

"Not as good customer service as normal with regards to checking in and sloppy attention to detail. Confirmed by phone and in app and booked a dog friendly room with two beds as travelling with a friend. When checking in discovered the family room I booked was relocated and we were given a double. Luckily a twin room was found. Other than that a nice stay."

"So pleased that we chose the Geckos rest to stay for 4 nights. John and Amy were welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area, suggesting different ways to walk to town, where to catch a bus if we needed it. The rooms are spotless, have all you need. Nice smelling toiletries and well stocked tea tray. They provide free fresh milk should you want it and use of the fridge in the dining room in case you need to keep something cool. Plenty of parking for everyone staying. You will never go hungry at breakfast and Amy provides well cooked local produce. The beds are very comfortable and the windows open. It is a 10-15 minute walk into town and that is with someone with a walking stick. It makes a good base for walking and visiting the surrounding areas. Thank you for a lovely stay."

"Clean room a bit smaller than expected but nicely done. Booked a parking place in May, phoned day before arrival to make sure it was available and it was confirmed. Phoned again 12.00 to ask if we could park early, again confirmed. On arrival we were told we didn't have a parking place!!! We were told to park on the next street. "
