If you’re seeking modern elegance, this place won’t be your cup of tea. However, if you’re in the mood for old-Hawai’i charm, this is the perfect spot for you.
Nestled in a little neighborhood against the backdrop of gorgeous mountains, this hotel exudes a serene and peaceful ambiance. The only disturbances were the occasional crowing of roosters, the barking of a few dogs and on our final night, a disturbance at the homeless camp in the park directly next door that resulted in six police cars and and ambulance rolling in with lights & sirens blaring at 10pm.
Other than the overflowing garbage cans in the parking areas, the lush, tropical grounds are meticulously maintained, creating a visually stunning setting. House keeping was excellent! They came daily and left clean towels.
Be aware that due to the fridge being out, there is a lengthy detour making it quite a distance from the beach and any amenities. A rental car is highly recommended to explore the surrounding area.
Despite its historical significance, this hotel is in dire need of an overhaul and modernization. The rooms and furnishings are outdated and have seen better days. The linens were the only clean and fresh element in the room, while everything else was covered in dirt, dust, and grime.
