You'll reach Vetehuset-Plantera+Skorda (Swedish for "the Wheat House - Plant and Harvest") by taking the private elevator from the carport to the second floor. It is housed inside a structure, designed by Brian Freeman, that mimics a grain elevator of wheat house, hence the name of this historic apartment. A lovely vestibule is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee as you check your email or plan your day. Designed by Victoria Freeman, guests enter the studio apartment into a welcoming living room, where much of the historic floorplan has been honored and retained. You'll slumber in comfort and style in a king-size bed with a Casper mattress. In both apartments, the sleeping area is set apart from the living area, which creates a nice sense of separation and privacy not commonly found. A closet is nearby each bed.
Guests will discover not one but two fully-equipped kitchens with full size stainless steel appliances and a quiet dishwasher at Vetehuset-Plantera+Skorda. With plenty of cabinets and counter space, it's an easy task to whip up your favorite meals, even a midnight snack.
A dining table for four is adjacent to the kitchen in both apartments and offers a comfortable, relaxed dining experience for guests.
In the bathroom, you'll find a door between the bathroom sink and the barrier-free walk-in shower and commode. The bathroom at Vetehuset-Skorda includes a separate bathtub. The spacious laundry room features a front-loading washer and dryer, even a drying rack.
While embracing its original historic construction, sustainability is literally built into Vetehuset-Plantera+Skorda. The entire studio apartment is insulated for temperature and noise with insulation from recycled blue jeans. The interior is heated and cooled with high-efficiency electric heat pumps, often called minisplits. Appliances are Energy Star certified and plumbing fixtures offer low-flow efficiency. The recycling bin is found in the laundry room.
You will receive a four-digit code that will unlock the elevator entry door, the door to the hall and the doors to each apartment. Be sure to lock your door each time you leave the apartment.

Lindsborg, Kansas is an artist community that embraces its unique spin on all things Swedish. Guests visit Lindsborg for its festivals, shopping along Main Street and art museums, including the Sandzen Gallery (America's Van Gogh). Coronado Heights (a "castle" built by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression) is a popular destination for picnics and to soak in the views of the countryside. Larger cities of Salina and McPherson are a short drive away. Another destination is the Cosmosphere, the largest collection of Russian and American space memorabilia outside of the Smithsonian - including the Apollo 13 capsule Odyssey.
Guests drive to this destination. Lindsborg is located about 4 miles west of I-135. The closest airport is Salina Municipal Airport (SLN), approximately 20 miles away. The Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita (ICT) is approximately 80 miles away.
The property manager can meet the guests for a tour of the property.
Most maintenance and repair work is completed when properties are unoccupied. Certain tasks, such as mowing or servicing heating and cooling equipment, may be conducted outside the property's four walls during a stay.
If maintenance, repair, or cleaning is necessary while guests are present, the property manager will notify guests of the required work, estimated time of arrival, and, if available, the staff member(s) assigned. Guests are required to respond to these messages to facilitate proper scheduling of the work.
