Historic Swedish Cottage on Quiet Lindstrom Lake

Vacation in this never before available, historic home on Quiet South Lindstrom Lake. Built in 1898, this home is on the National Historic Record of Homes, but features all the amenities of a new home including a master suite with gas fireplace, an eat-in kitchen with granite countertops and an exercise room with treadmill, recumbent bike, television and weight machine. Wrap around porches and a huge deck cantilevered over the hill above the lake make for great views and relaxation rain or shine. With over 3800 square feet of living space, even the largest family or group can find privacy. PLEASE CLICK ON RATES AND AVAILABILITY - VIEW ALL RENTAL RATES - FOR SEASONAL PRICING.
The Huge Great Room is great for gatherings, yet intimate for quiet reflection around the brick fireplace. Lots of privacy as the house is setback 200 feet from the street. You're just steps to the sand beach and dock. There's great fishing and lots of lake to explore as we are connected to neighboring Chisago Lake.

Jim’s house worked great for a few of us to stay on a family wedding weekend. Jim was very responsive before and during our stay. The home itself has plenty of room to spread out (there were 8 of us one night and 10 of us the second night). The exterior of the home needs attention and yard maintenance and upkeep. Kitchen is very well stocked.

The kitchen was well equipped and clean. We cooked during our stay and it had everything we needed. I loved that the owners labeled each drawer and cupboard with contents so items were easily located. The dining room table was large enough to seat all 6 of us comfortably. The house was large and provided us with plenty of space to separate for a bit of quiet time; and it stayed cozy for an old house even tho it was chilly during our fall days. We love old houses and appreciated its history so we easily embraced it for what it was. However; if you’re looking for a more modern stay, this may not be for you. Overall the house was clean, but there were areas that needed more attention (a fresh coat of paint), like the walls and railing going up the stairs to the bedrooms. All in all. We were happy with our stay, but feel that the living room and great room furniture needed to be replaced. The beds were comfortable but new/fresh comforters would have elevated those rooms immensely.

Property was nice but more run down than pictures led us to believe. Outside deck was wonderful and we spent a lot of time there but could have used some cleaning - outside railing coming out of house had a significant build up of dirt and grime. Bathrooms and kitchen were very nice but we ran out of paper towels and toilet paper. Overall, property has some very nice features but probably needs a little more attention to outside upkeep.

Excellent Stay in Lindstrom

We were in town for a wedding at Abella. This property was 12 minutes away from the venue and worked perfectly for us. Property owner Jim was quick to respond to all of our inquiries and worked with us for all our needs. Awesome to have all our family stay together during our family wedding weekend. Would highly recommend!

Inside of the home was very clean and roomy for our large group of 11. Outside of home needs a lot of attention, realizing the home is old I understand, but the ferns upfront are overgrown. Shoreline is a mess with overgrown weeds and trees. better change your outside pics of the place. overall a very nice stay.
