Ocean view is not guaranteed in "ocean view room'

We observed an ocean view room but were assigned to a room without ocean view. Instead, only grass land and private farm can be seen from the windows. The view can been seen if my photos have been attached successfully. In addition, the key is traditional and without any mark. The receptionist in the front desk gave us two wrong keys. Because our room is the farmost, we drove back and spent extra 20 minutes to go into our room.

I love that the resort is a mixture of different cottages/buildings. I was assigned to a duplex with a partial ocean-view. The room was clean and tidy, inviting, and offered all the amenities one would expect from a hotel resort. The shampoo, conditioner, and lotion smelled wonderful! And the rain shower head was an experience in itself. I was pleased that the pillows actually supported my head and neck. Along with the comfortable bed and winter temperature, I could have easily slept all morning. This resort is a nature reserve on its own with a private beach access. The grounds are well-maintained and I thoroughly enjoyed walking all around the resort. The warm cookies upon check-in is a nice touch as well! Overall an excellent stay! Highly recommended and worth going back to again someday.

If you want the rudest, most unhelpful staff/ employees, this is the place for you. Especially lovely was the manager who threatened us with arrest after we complained about no heat in our room, which went down to 59 degrees. Let’s not forget the $ 35 per night “resort fee” for parki, free cookies and yoga which only happens on Saturdays. Horrible experience

We stayed in a lovely private cabin in the woods. Two of the bedrooms were very nice, and the bunk room was very rustic with a strong odor. The staff was very attentive to the issues that came up during our stay, but unfortunately, they were unable to fix our WiFi. It wasn’t functional for much of our stay. We were disappointed with the dining options in and around the hotel, finding the dinner restaurant expensive and the food not as good as we were expecting. The breakfast room was lovely, and the view made up for the slightly disappointing breakfast food. Overall this was a lovely hotel in a beautiful location with friendly, attentive staff, but not a food destination, or a place to work with steady WiFi.

The location of this property is amazing. Our room had a deck that had an unobstructed ocean view. The room itself was cute but was in need of repair. I would expect for the price of the room that the interior should be at a higher level. The toilet seat was broken, the cabinets were very worn and rug and furnishings looked very used. Overall we did enjoy our stay though and will return.

Gorgeous property, but be aware that rooms vary quite a bit in appearance, and representative photos for a room type may look literally nothing like your room. We had a 2 bedroom deluxe room, which we picked as the photo showed a nice lounge area with couch and table that we wanted to socialize in with our friends, who were also staying at the hotel. Our unit indeed had 2 bedrooms but NO lounge area, which was really disappointing. Also be aware that there does not appear to be any backup generators- we lost power due to a storm, which means we lost WiFi and the ability to text and call (only Verizon has service in the area, so for many folks, you have no texting or calling ability when the power/wifi is down). We would definitely stay again as the location is gorgeous and staff is very nice, but we will be more cautious in choosing our room type and not travel during the winter to avoid storms.

Our third Christmas stay. The reason we came back was because the first two times was ideal. The location, the proximity to Mendocino, for walk around and diner was so very enjoyable. This year due to winter storms, within hours of check in, the resort lost electrical power. So no on site meals, hot water ran out after a day and no day hikes along the coast. Why were we disappointed, was not necessarily the loss of power, etc, it was that there was no effort to direct us to anywhere to dine or any real concern, about being literally in the dark. On top of that, the cost of nearly 2000 for three nights, was idiotic. Next year will stay home and donate the cash to somewhere it will do some good.

The Heritage House experience is unique and being there to take in the whole property really should be the goal. The rooms are all great (been many times) and the staff super friendly and welcoming. The bedding is luxurious and the beds are “clouds!” Everything is well maintained and even the coffee is terrific!

First thing, the staff is absolutely wonderful. They made our Thanksgiving week an incredible holiday experience. Lovely folks from reception to the restaurant and cleaning staff. Our room was modern and very clean. The grounds and view are spectacular. We did not want to leave and neither did our beagle. We plan to come back in the spring.

We recently stayed at the Heritage House, and overall the property itself is beautiful — the grounds are stunning, the ocean views are incredible, and the location feels peaceful and relaxing. That said, the room experience didn’t quite match the charm of the property. The room was fairly basic compared to the premium setting, and we were surprised to learn that cleanings aren’t automatic; you have to specifically request them. Not a big deal in theory, but it’s one more thing to remember on vacation. We also ran into a couple of maintenance issues: the TV didn’t work, and neither did the in-room telephone. We ended up spending more time than we wanted troubleshooting things that should have just worked. Individually these are small inconveniences, but they added up and took away from the otherwise great environment. Heritage House has a lot of potential and a truly beautiful setting — with a bit more attention to room functionality and guest convenience, it could easily be a five-star stay.
