Beautiful property but house very cold/drafty for winter stay.
The place is beautiful however, staying there on what happens to be one of the most coldest days of the year is not ideal. The house is very very drafty. Using the giant gas powered heater (had to figure out on our own to use) along with the house Nest system still could not get the house warm enough. Needed to use portable heaters in the rooms which there were not enough of them. The bedroom on the main floor needed two heaters since the heater provided just could not keep up with the draftiness of the room. We recommend if staying here to bring extra blankets as there really weren't too many (glad we brought our own). Also may need to bring your own portable heaters. I believe that if the windows and balcony doors had curtains, it would definitely help with the draft since the house has a lot of windows and sliding doors throughout. The basement where the game room was located was even colder and no way to heat it without starting a fire. All fire wood was outside under snow. It would have been nice to have some dried fire wood placed inside the house. Host took a while to get back to use regarding heating the home, but responded well enough afterwards. It was an okay stay, but would have loved it if we weren't all so cold wearing several layers of clothes inside the house. It would have been nice if the house was prepped (heaters turned on) before arriving, especially since we were bringing small children.
