The time-honoured and completely renovated Casa De Mont from the 18th century stands in the centre of the village. This typical Graubünden building with its thick masonry has had an eventful history as a home, later as a monastery and finally as a restaurant and has been lovingly and authentically restored over the last 10 years. Here you will find your small, cosy oasis of well-being - the casa M.

To the left of the building, right in front of the separate and exclusive entrance to casa M, is the car park reserved for you and available around the clock. Seven steps of an old stone staircase lead you to the forecourt, where a wooden bench awaits you and is the ideal place for your first espresso of the day or for a cigarette.

You enter the foyer through the large glass door, which allows plenty of light to flood into the entrance. The wardrobe on the left serves as a privacy screen to the living area and offers plenty of space for jackets, coats, shoes, hats and gloves. There is a large radiator on the right, which is useful for drying jackets and shoes or ski boots. The beautiful oak flooring, which extends throughout the flat except for the wet rooms, is already an eye-catcher here.

Past the aforementioned cupboard, the spacious living, dining and cooking area opens up to the left. The fold-out sofa can be used either as such or as a reclining bed for relaxing and serves as a high-quality bed for one adult or up to two children at night. The armchair invites you to linger and read. Three radiators ensure that your home is cosy and warm. The router for the Wi-Fi is also located in the living room, which ensures excellent reception throughout the flat. Next to it is a Sonos Cube to add a little rhythm to the parlour. The two rear windows look out onto the garden. On the right is the dining area with a beautiful wooden table and 4 comfortable chairs. There is also a Nespresso machine in the far corner for your daily use - don't forget to bring your favourite capsules. Another eye-catcher is the large wall poster behind the dining table with the two ibexes - this makes the living area appear even larger and radiates a pleasant sense of calm.

The kitchen is modern and fully equipped and easy to clean thanks to the slate worktop. The extra-large dishwasher also makes your kitchen work easier. A large fridge with separate freezer and a modern oven are of course included. Cleaning products, toilet paper and kitchen utensils can be found at the back of the cupboard - there is also various information on the cupboard door. The kitchen cube also has built-in cupboards on the rear side by the dining table and offers you additional storage space.

A special feature of this 2 1/2-room flat is certainly the separate WC with washing tower (washing machine and tumble dryer), which is also available to you from a rental period of 4 days.

You enter the spacious sleeping area through the old, historic wooden door. Be careful - please note the step that leads down into the bedroom and the somewhat limited height of the door frame. The bedroom is spacious and we assure you a good night's sleep in the large, comfortable box-spring bed. The wide armchair invites you to linger and can be converted into a cosy lounger if required. Two of the three windows in the bedroom look out onto the main road. As the traffic through the village is not really heavy, you can sleep well and in peace even with the window half or fully open. The large cupboard at the back left offers plenty of space for your personal belongings.

You can access another highlight of the flat through the door next to the wardrobe in the bedroom, namely the bathroom. Designed entirely in grey slate, there is a large shower with a rain shower at your disposal. After a long day of hiking or skiing, there's nothing better than relaxing there.

The entire flat has been newly renovated and equipped with high-quality materials and appliances. We therefore particularly look forward to welcoming guests who appreciate and care for this standard. The whole building is heated by geothermal probe, solar (hot water) and (only in extremely cold periods) by oil. The garden behind the house can also be shared and should be used in harmony with all other residents. In the basement of the building (through the main entrance on the street) there is a ski room for your skis and ski boots or bicycles.

We have a dog ourselves - therefore dogs are generally allowed. What we do not offer is a television - otherwise the flat is very well equipped for a relaxing holiday.

Other sports and leisure activities: The casa M is an ideal starting point for many leisure activities. In addition to the chairlift from Vella to the Obersaxen/Mundaun ski area, only 400 metres away, with 120 kilometres of varied pistes, 15 lifts, cosy mountain restaurants and snow bars, a snow park, toboggan runs and winter hiking trails, in winter you can also enjoy the cross-country ski trails at the Pleif parish church or at Degen. It's certainly worth spending a day exploring the famous Flims/Laax ski area - you can be there in less than half an hour by car.

In summer, Val Lumnezia is a wonderful place for walks and long hikes. For example, the Davos Munts bathing lake is just a 30-minute walk from casa M, where you can also enjoy a refreshing aperitif in a cosy restaurant. Excursions by bike in the valley are particularly recommended, as there is little traffic. In summer, there are various activities in the valley, such as the Lumnezia open-air music festival or the open-air cinema at the aforementioned bathing lake. We also recommend day trips to the breathtaking Rhine Gorge or to Vals (both approx. 30 minutes by car). Laax also has a golf course in Sagogn (approx. 20 minutes by car).

Other living room furnishings: The living room is very cosy and can be illuminated in various ways. A cosy armchair with stool and a small side table add to the cosiness. A Sonos Cube is freely available for music. The sofa bed can be easily folded in and out to provide a full-size bed. Although all the windows have curtains, unlike the bedroom, these cannot completely darken the room. The wooden table seats four people. The Nespresso machine is available for use in the corner at the back. Pictures hang on the walls and other accessories make the room cosy and pleasant. The huge Alpine panorama with the two ibexes behind the dining table is a real eye-catcher.

Other bedroom furnishings: The bedroom has good lighting and there is a bedside table with a reading lamp on each side of the bed. The bed linen is freshly washed but not ironed. Each guest is provided with a duvet and 2 pillows. The room can be completely darkened by the special curtains. A wide armchair invites you to linger and can be converted into a cosy lounger if required. There is also a large double wardrobe with plenty of space. The cosiness of the room is rounded off with a small mirror and a picture.

Other kitchen equipment: The kitchen is an eye-catcher with its large white cube and black granite worktop. In the cube itself you will find plenty of storage space (also at the back by the dining table) as well as the sink, the dishwasher and the glass ceramic hob (induction) from Bora with integrated extractor fan. At the rear are the countless cupboards with plenty of storage space as well as the oven and the large fridge with separate freezer. The kitchen can also be very well lit.

Village description: Vella is the unofficial capital of Lumnezia and lies at 1240 metres above sea level with a population of just under 500.

Vella is located in the outer third of the valley on a gently sloping terrace to the south-east. The municipal area extends up to the ridge of the Mundaun-Sezner chain. Vella includes Pleif with the parish church of Sogn Vintschegn. The church is located a few minutes' walk below the village on the edge of the plateau, which drops abruptly down to the Glenner. The village centre of Vella is characterised by sturdy stone houses that date back to the de Mont family. The Sogn Roc chapel stands on the village square and the de Mont castle towers just behind it. The rural character is unmistakable away from the main road. Attractive wooden houses alternate with old barns.
