To view a video of the chalet, type in Barkview Hideaway on You Tube. -Our power is generated by the sun by our two large solar panels you can see at the end of our driveway. Do not worry you will always have power as we have a back-up generator. We love living off grid, it gives us a satisfied feeling that we are doing our best for the environment. -unlimited 48MBPS high speed Internet -The space is designed for two people or one person getting away from it all. There is one queen bed and a twin rollaway bed if separate beds are preferred. The rollaway bed can be set up in the living room space and is stored in the utility room. Parents are welcome to bring infants but the space is not set up as child friendly. -You have a private walk out covered patio deck complete with a patio table, BBQ / burner and two Muskoka chairs to sit and gaze at the lake and western exposure sunsets. -Excellent for birdwatching and wildlife as the house sits in the forest. Sitting in The forest means there will be bugs and we do our best to ensure the house is secure of insects etc. but this is country living and sometimes these things make their way in. -If you are looking for peace and tranquility this is the place for you. So many of our guests are amazed at how quiet and tranquil the space is. -If you are looking to see the stars this is the place. No city lights means dark skies and stars galore. -Lots of areas to walk even a nearby pond. Bring your rubber boots as it does get muddy back there if you want to go and enjoy the frogs. -Bark Lake is a clean lake and I would suggest to bring water shoes as it is rocky off the dock. -There is excellent swimming and fishing. You have access to a canoe life jackets and a single kayak. -There is a picnic table on the dock to enjoy your meals. -Enjoy campfires and we provide the wood for your use. Bring your marshmallows! - The location is only 15 minutes to Barry's Bay which has all the amenities. There are many hiking trails and Algonquin Park is only a 50 minute drive to the East gate. -if you would like to bring your dog, please inquire as we allow if certain rules are followed. Please inquire prior to booking. You will have full access to Barkview hideaway and the surrounding area. Our home is located 0.2 km down the driveway which is private. -you have access to our dock which is at the end of Curtiss Road if you turn right out of the driveway and follow the road to the end and to the left you will see the boat launch and the dock. Please park your car off to the side to not block the boat launch -It is a 10-12 minute walk and there is a steep hill or 5 minute drive Ian and I live onsite and our house is 0.2 km up the road from Barkview Hideaway. -We will be available if we are home and certainly will chat if we cross paths. -Our boat is at the dock so we may cross paths on the dock for our access to the boat -We respect our guests need for privacy so be assured that will be respected. Designated Parking is provided behind the house for one vehicle -If you have a boat or water toy please inform us so we can instruct you where to park at -You will require a car/truck in order to access the property as there is no public transportation as this is a country/rural setting. -For winter accessibility we highly suggest an AWD vehicle as the 3 km road into the property is a dirt road with hills and turns. -It is plowed and sanded all winter. Barkview Hideaway is a Four-season house and will be available to rent throughout the year. -Fall is notorious for the beautiful autumn colors. -The winter season is popular for snowmobiling, snowshoeing and ice fishing. It truly is incredible that you rarely see boats or people considering the size of the lake. Barkview Hideaway is truly a slice of paradise. -Our dog Angel is a Cane Corso mix. If she hears noise down at the chalet, she may come down barking to say hello. She is friendly, but please don’t crouch or reach over her head as she needs her space to get to know you. Beautifully finished chalet, quiet and secluded location in the forest with a wonderful view over Bark Lake and great private dock access down the shared laneway make for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature. We'll return in the future!
We had a wonderful week staying here. It is amazing inside and out. For anyone thinking of booking this place, it is perfect for a couple getaway in nature. You can enjoy the trails, the dock and swimming, camp fire or just sit relax and watch the view of the lake from the porch or inside. Anything you need to relax is all here. Thank you so much! 💕
My husband and I had a fantastic week here. This place has the perfect mix of amenities and serenity. We loved relaxing at the dock. There are lots of nearby trails for hiking. Barry's Bay was a cute little town and convenient distance for all essentials. Definitely recommend checking out the Wilno tavern as well. Lisa was quick with communication and has clearly thought of everything when it comes to hosting. The cabin had everything we could have needed and more. We loved the cappuccino machine. Despite being off grid, we felt like we were in a 5 star hotel. We will definitely be back in the future!
The natural beauty of the forest, the spectacular sunsets over Bark Lake, and the quiet peace at the cabin were exactly what we needed for rest and refreshment. The cabin is tastefully decorated and appointed with everything we needed and more. Hosts Lisa and Ian have thought of everything to make Barkview Hideaway a perfect place relax.

Impeccable chalet
Host's considerable attention to detail apparent in all aspects of chalet.
A beautiful setting that includes both forest and lakefront. This fantastic cabin has everything you need for your stay. A smart construction that stayed cool during this last heatwave. Heatwave you say? No problem, head down to the water on a great and roomy dock ehere you can lounge or float around and stay cool. Best of all for us is that our great hosts allow pets. And that made all the difference for us!
