Room given was not as per booking

I booked for family room with 2 queen beds for 3 adults and 1 kid (age 6). However we were given 1 queen bed and 1 single bed: the reason given- no more such room available!!! The receptionist offered a mattress to sleep on the floor!! But we denied. How could this happened? We were quite disappointed.
