Old friends and I planned a camping weekend, however, with the weather looking bad found Shelby's place. It was a great place to catch up. It is spacious and clean and all-in-all very comfortable.

Wonderful

The cabin was wonderful it felt very cozy and comfortable. The bedrooms were all clean and spacious. The fire pit was great. The movie selection was excellent.

Loved the woods and firepit. Communication with the owner was fantastic! Beds were wonderful! A great getaway. Decking was deteriorated and needed some attention which we notified the owner. Overall, a great stay!

Nice Little Hideaway

We really enjoyed our visit to the cabin. Close enough to Starved Rock to do a nice little day trip. Nice and private. Place was clean and well maintained.

Relaxing getaway!

This is a very peaceful and quiet location. Very clean and we'll put together!! This was our second stay and we are still pleased with our decision.

Very clean, neat and organized. Never seen so many rugs in one house. All standard amenities are there, nothing was broken or unusable. Very secluded, not easy to find via google maps. Only Internet access was outside in certain areas. Nice choices of movies and games. This time of year was perfect, no furnace or a/c was used. Wife enjoyed it as our second honeymoon after 25 years!

Memorial Wall Visit

Every year, we rent this property to have a place to stay to visit the Middle East Conflicts Memorial Wall in Marseilles. Great property, and fun times!

Great weekend

Cabin is larger than it looks from the pictures. Good size even with a decent size group. Had a couple of people set up tents, worked out great.

Great Spot in the Woods

I stayed here with a small group of friends and it was the perfect spot for us. We enjoyed being outside on the expansive deck and were even able to enjoy a rainstorm on the covered front porch. A short walk into the woods provided the adventure of exploring while still being able to see the cabin. We talked about coming back again even while we were there. In all, a great vacation location.

perfect getaway

Great place to stay when you need a getaway in nature. beautiful property with a space to do some exploring out back, has all the amenities you need in the kitchen, laundry, and hangout spaces. short drive to town to get supplies if needed, but we just brought everything with us and hunkered down for a gaming/hiking weekend. The owner was communicative and thoughtful as well. Highly recommend!

Perfect quiet weekend getaway

This property was admittedly large for our needs, but everything else in the area was booked up, so we splurged. And we are glad that we did! It was exactly as described: remote, woodsy, and quiet. Just what we needed. The woodburning stove was the cherry on the top! Instructions for its use were clear and concise, right down to the sound of that the flue makes when opening. It was details like this that made our stay special.

Great Brothers Weekend

This property was actually better than I was expecting. Let me explain. This property had everything that you would need in case you forgot something. It was absolutely perfect for our group. Yes when I first arrived I was like wow that is a lot of wood. Definitely very spacious and plenty of room for activities. I was amazed by the presence of the home. Love it. Very quiet outside and plenty of seating for all views around the home. Overall very pleased with the place.

Cabin getaway

This is our second time staying here. The cabin is a 25 minute drive from Starved Rock and Matheissien Park, but has the great amenities of home. The owner supplies everything for a comfortable stay: bedding, pillows, blankets, towels, kitchen cooking wares, utensils, paper goods ( including toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, and plastic ware), a charcoal grill, a large TV with DVD players, and tons of DVDS to borrow. It has AC, which was key, because it was in the 90’s for our stay. They also offer a fire pit. My only complaint…there was no firewood. If you are looking for a family friendly cabin, close to Starved Rock…this is it.

Peaceful remote cabin set in the woods

Four girlfriends from high school in our 50's met here for a fun get together. We hiked in the area, ate, drank and shopped. The cabin was a perfect ending to our day! We will be back! There is nothing we can recommend to make it better! Thank you Shelby ❤️ And...thanks for being understanding when we checked out and one of us locked her keys in her trunk and we had to come back later for her car! That was an unexpected ending to our trip, but it allowed us to have breakfast in town while waiting on her husband to arrive with the spare key 😀 We cant thank you enough for being patient!
