RupeSuiSassi is a typical house of the Sassi of Matera with a splendid view.

The RupeSuiSassi holiday home welcomes you to Matera, formerly a UNESCO heritage site for its Sassi and now the European Capital of Culture 2019. We have chosen to transform our house into a holiday home to welcome the many travelers who wish to visit Matera with its Sassi and the surrounding area, rich in natural and historical-artistic beauties of prehistoric origins, of traditions and legends stratified over time, of products and typical dishes like bread. Entering the house you will feel enveloped in a muffled dimension thanks to the visible tuff vault, the handmade terracotta bricks floor, the majolica tiles. You will then be projected into a surreal dimension thanks to the breathtaking view that can be enjoyed from the terrace of the Sassi kitchen and in front of the Parco della Murgia Materana. The apartment is on two levels with two double bedrooms (each on one level and one of the two can be double) and two bathrooms (each adjacent to the bedroom). Upon entering there is a large open space with a living room equipped with a comfortable sofa bed that can accommodate two more people and a kitchen made entirely of masonry with colored majolica tiles. The kitchen is equipped with everything (pots, dishes, dishwasher, coffee machine, etc.). In the house there is also a washing machine and free wifi. The apartment cannot be reached by car because it is located in a small alley where cars are not allowed to circulate, which are left in a street a few meters from the house. To reach the structure, moreover, there are some stairs to climb that you will also find at the entrance to the apartment. After this short and pleasant walk that already immerses you in the spirit of the silence of the Sassi, you can admire the beauty of the house and the landscape it offers.

Le logement est parfait, il ne manque rien, il est proche des sassis , tout se fait à pieds. Mais ce qui est le plus magnifique c’est la vue du balcon….c’est à couper le souffle….on recommande ce logement les yeux fermés (Voir photos)

The best view in Matera

We absolutely loved this place! The view was incredible, and it had everything we needed. It was very easy to access, which is not the case for many places in Matera. Easy parking nearby, but a 5 minute walk to the main part of the old city.

Great location and view!

View to Matera from the balcony was amazing. The property has no air conditioning and it was 40C/100F while we were there so it was warm. There were two fans and the lower bedroom was cool enough to sleep. Location was great for walking anywhere. Matera is beautiful and amazing, but I would avoid June through August in future.

Beautiful view, apartment needs some work

The view and location were second to none. Perfect spot for exploring Matera. The apartment is old and dated (which was not unexpected), but left lots to be desired in terms of cleanliness and attention (towels and linens were threadbare and ancient, kitchen sponge should be replaced between guests, etc). There was also a lot of mould in the laundry room which was a real disappointment.

The best view in Matera

While this location may be a five or 10 minute walk from the center and shops, it affords the best view in the entire city! There is nice paid parking structure within 300 meters. The apartment is spacious Terrace spectacular.

Exceptional location

Our stay at RupeSuiSassi was everything we could ask for! The Location was superb and Daniela (Host) was excellent with her directions. When we asked a few questions she was very prompt in replying, which is appreciated. I would definitely return to this location

Family trip to Matera

The view from the apartment is great. The location is very good to explore the old town and the sights. Matera is really unique. We spent four nights with our teenagers in the very well furnished and special apartment and felt very comfortable.

Magical Matera

We’ve had an amazing time in Matera and RupeSuiSassi was perfect for exploring this unique medieval city. The view from the kitchen balcony is gorgeous – the panorama of the Sassi together with Gravina canyon is unforgettable and one can spend hours just taking this in, especially at night when Matera is lit-up against the night sky. The spacious apartment is in excellent shape located in the original old-style dwelling, with high arched stone ceiling and multiple levels (beautiful and well stocked kitchen, cozy living room, two bedrooms and two full roomy bathrooms + cave utility room) – the overall feeling and appointment of the apartment is very inviting and homey. Apartment’s location is excellent: it is not in the middle of tourist locations (and is very quiet), but you can walk anywhere within the Old City in 30 minutes or less. In addition, there is a parking garage (that we’ve fully utilized) within a 3 minute walk with plenty of space and fairly inexpensive (removed all worries about getting a ticket). Communication with Daniela was great and self-check in/out was very easy. Daniela also provided excellent directions on finding the parking garage, as well as the apartment itself (finding things in Matera can be tricky). Overall a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this specific VRBO location and Daniela as a host. [P.S. Summer is very hot, and there are only fans in the apartment – so account for this accordingly]

Great stay!

The location of this apartment was excellent, just steps from the sassi. Parking garage, full service grocery, and many shops and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Apartment was spacious and equipped with most items; very clean. Washer and dryer. Owner was responsive to any questions or needs, would stay again.

Beautiful Place!

Can't give a high enough review for this property. The apartment is beautiful, spacious and clean. The view of the old city of Matera from the balcony is breathtaking. We wished we had booked more time here. It was a perfect home base to explore a really special city with great restaurants and cultural sites. Daniella was professional and made the whole process a breeze. If you want to explore Matera, this is the place to stay!

Fantastic place!

We stayed here as part of a two centre vacation in Puglia, Bari being the other location, check in was excellent, self check in was a bonus, as it was a late flight, there is free parking outside, but bear i mind the place in the old town part, so parking can be tricky, with some narrow roads, Eveything worked, beds were comfortable, two bathrooms was a bonus, and the location was excellent, along with the view, although not far from restaurants and night life it was very quiet, good choice of supermarkets were also close and really easy to get around, this would be a fantastic base to explore Matera, comms with the host were 100%, overall a very good experienced, and better than expectations

Great views and location

The rental was not difficult to find and the check in process went smoothly. The rental was roomy and the parking for the car was fairly close. The views from the patio were amazing!! The area under the sink was leaking a bit so we set the garbage can out so it won’t get water mixed with foods. We could not find an ironing board. We had to put all our things in the frigerator the tiny ants were finding our food easily.

Typical house with a priceless view

We spent one night in this typical house. We did not meet Daniela as it is a self check-in system but she is very responsive by phone for explanation before and during the stay. Daniela kindly booked for our car a parking place in a closed garage nearby for 15 eur. It was very practical and valuable. Matera is a jewel and the view from the house is priceless, I think one the best view you can imagine in Matera. The house is rather large and is just like showed in the pictures. It is well located, at walking distance of interest points and spotless clean. Each bedroom has its bathroom, very convenient. There is no air-conditioning but there is a fan that we used for the night. A second one could be useful for the other bedroom or for the living room. Even if mattress are comfortable, note that the double bed creaks A LOT maybe something to fix in the future but it was not a big problem for a one-night stay.
