Holiday Inn Express Chengdu Tianfu Airport Zone by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"I used a taxi from the airport to get to the hotel. The hotel staff helped me pay the driver by setting up a Chinese payment app on my phone. The hotel staff spoke English very well. They upgraded my room to a suite which was much appreciated. The suite was extremely spacious, well decorated and throughly clean. I was able to utilize the free shuttle bus back to the airport. "

"Hotel very nice, rooms clean, shower excellent, staff helpful.
Only thing for us is the breakfast isn’t very western (but more so than many Chinese hotels). Minor issue only "

Waldorf Astoria Chengdu

"The deco was very nicely done up. The staff were polite and the rooms were comfortable. The breakfast buffet selection was great too. The location is just beside a nice Jaozi park which is ideal for morning or evening strolls. It is also a nice quiet neighbourhood "

The Langbo Chengdu in the Unbound Collection by Hyatt
10/10 Excellent
"The room was spacious and the staff were attentive. It was a nice touch for them to prepare a nice panda theme dessert, a generous fruit basket and a cute stuff toy as a welcome gift. It made the welcome special. "

Hilton Chengdu
2/10 Terrible
"Terrible Experience at Hilton Cheng – Extremely Rude and Disrespectful Staff
I am utterly appalled by the unprofessional and offensive treatment I received from the front desk staff during my check-in, and I feel compelled to share this appalling experience to warn other guests.
When I arrived, I was struggling with knee pain, so my cousin offered to help carry my bag. At check-in, the staff first grilled us about whether my cousin would be staying with me; I clearly said no. We then asked if he could accompany me upstairs to my room since I was in discomfort, and they refused, citing the need for his ID—which we understood, so we dropped the request as my cousin didn’t have his ID with him anyway.
What happened next left me stunned and humiliated. The front desk staff then informed me that the "emergency kit" in the room would be chargeable, listing out items included—and explicitly mentioned condoms. Confused and already feeling uneasy, I simply asked if toothbrushes would also be chargeable. Instead of a straightforward answer, as I walked away, I heard the entire front desk team burst into loud, mocking laughter.
It wasn’t until later that night that the full weight of their behavior sank in: they had obviously assumed I was a sex worker, and their inappropriate comment about condoms, followed by that derisive laughter, was a deliberate insult. To make matters worse, I have stayed at numerous Hilton properties before, and never once has any staff member mentioned "
