We arrived to our absolutely gorgeous accommodation with easy to follow instructions for access. It was pre heated, lights on and beautifully decorated. We walked to the local pub for dinner and had an awesome breakfast with our voucher from our stay.
It was quiet, romantic and a perfect choice for anyone just wanting some quality time, the spa was an added bonus.

It was a little dirty
The location and the building has huge potential

Unfortunately my experience was not pleasant. Internet wasn’t working, and the internet cable to the house had a join cables twisted by hand and then covered with a duct tape, in the open weather.. so you of course I wasn’t going to work. Access door to the Spa was unopenable. One bathroom didn’t had mirror over vanity, other bathroom shower just pooled with water.
Oven door wouldn’t seal close. The place was tidy but didn’t felt rundown, wouldn’t call it luxury apartment. When paying $1470 for two night expectations are higher. Kitchen was not very well equipped.
Fireplace was nice and wood stocked, so that was good and location is central.

House was great, although access to some rooms was restricted, so there was no access to a bath.
Condition of house was great, ensuite has issues though. Poor condition of fittings, eg toilet not attached to floor, requiring manipulation to allow water to flow to drain.
Dual showerhead has been removed, but piping and fixing sites for removed material apparent. Interestingly enough, they provide epsom salts for a bath, but as above, no access to bath.
Spa was interesting, but a quick trip to youtube will give you all the information you need to get it up and running.
All in all, if you have stayed in FNQ or Fiji on the islands you will have a decent idea of what to expect. Nice place, great surroundings, close to town, with an IGA just north of the house.
Plenty of room. Big bedrooms. Wished the blinds were darker especially for the kids and the downstairs bedroom doesn't have blinds but other than that it was very good.
I have stayed at this accommodation a few years back, and loved it and always wanted to come back.
I booked this in for my husband & I's wedding anniversary.
We were very disappointing in the state of the accommodation. Bathroom ties were broken.. Timber was placed on top of broken tiles covered by a bathmat. For the price we paid, these apartments were not upto scratch.
We wouldn't go back to the Lochiel Accommodation.

Was really nice secluded and quiet, i personally thought is overpriced for what it was and there were a couple of general maintance issues (lamp on entrance broken and hanging to one side ane toilet seat slips around and toilet needed servicing as water kept running after flush) but these things are general wear and tear overall was excellent bed VERY comfortable and spa was really good and it was a nice place overall. There was no real instructions via this website for checkin but a quick call to the number listed has us sorted.
Property was nice could do with updating mattress, pillows, couch and shower head. Cob webs in lights need attention. However view and spa was amazing..

Furniture uncomfortable
Broken tiles in bathroom dangerous
Windows filthy and spoilt the view
Staying the night before my wedding in the Original Cottage was unfortunately a rather forgettable experience:
- No instructions were provided on how to check in
- A constantly running toilet was audible in the upstairs bedrooms all night
- One of the downstairs bedrooms had close to 30 dead bugs on the floor
- Despite numerous attempts to contact the owner (including calling both mobile and land line numbers and texting) we heard nothing back throughout the duration of the booking. (Have still not heard from the owner since this experience).
- Lack of WiFi was disappointing
- Central heating that may need cleaning/maintaining as was very noisy
Overall, very disappointing. Especially for the price and the steep additional fees per guest. Having also stayed in the neighbouring property (and paid less), I know what my choice will be when I visit Olinda again. That being said, with a bit of maintenance, some more care shown by the cleaning staff and communication from the property owners I would hope the Original Cottage returns to the standards articulated in the previous reviews.
My booking was made last minute, but the Staff catered to my late arrival well, placing me into a guesthouse. The space has an open setup with the bedroom and bathroom seperate. I quite enjoyed the wooden fireplace which gave the place that extra warmth.
We had a lovely stay in the guest house cottage. Beautiful rooms with an open fire, spa bath and queen bed. Everything else you need is in walking distance or a 5 minute drive. And of course the surrounding trees and nature make you feel like your in the middle of knowhere.
We would love to stay again.
We had a relaxing stay. Loved the combustion heater in the living room and the huge bath upstairs.
The driveway was very rough and eroded may not be suitable for all cars. The accomodation was lovely, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We adored the bush outlook. I was a little disapointed to read that they would charge you a cleaning fee if you did not leave the kitchenette as you found it, it is customary for a hotel to offer water glasses and tea and coffee equipment without charging the patrons to cleans the dishes afterwards. I think it's a bit rude given the cost of the accomodation.
The owner was friendly and addressed us by name.
The breakfast voucher to their restaurant accross the road does not quite cover the cost of breakfast and coffee.
