Standout was the host, the historic setting and the garden, location and the general friendliness of the environment. Thank you Susan. I highly recommend your beautycottage
We really enjoyed our stay at Susan’s cottage. It was a perfect location for visiting our family and very comfortable.
Lovely quirky decor. Great host
Highly recommend
Thank you.
This is a beautiful place to stay.
We visit Melbourne quite often and it is just down the road from my son and his wife. It's comfortable, clean and so welcoming.
A lovely older property with huge character and a beautiful garden to relax in and enjoy some peace and quiet. All mod cons and everything you would need to enjoy your stay and conveniently located for the beach, shops and beyond. Host Susan could not have made us more welcome. This is a fabulous little gem of a property.
Delightful, very comfortable, a little quirky, Susan and Greg very friendly and helpful, would stay there again if were weren't moving house to live in the neighbourhood.
Machiya Cottage was indeed charming. This home was filled with charming pieces from yesteryear like a singer sewing machine and beautiful paintings. The home was filled with character and comfort which made us feel totally at home. The private garden was so beautiful. I enjoyed picking herbs from the garden to garnish our dinner. So relaxing. We will be back.
We had a wonderful time at the house. It was very homely and had everything we needed. It was really close to walk to the beach and shops as well.
Susan also had left us some cheese, strawberries, biscuits and chocolate which was a lovely touch.
We would happily stay here again
Lovely eclectic cabin with great finishing touches
great coimmunication and wonderful host, lovely finishings and high quality towels and other touches like vase of fresh herbs. Bathroom not next to bedroom just to set expectations but great spot, lovely eneregy and very comfortable.
Very nice, quiet, clean, cozy, comfortable bed and fully equipped kitchen. Everything we were looking for and a convenient location for what we wanted. Susan was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. A welcome platter of cheese, crackers, fruit and nibbles was very much appreciated after a long day on the motorbikes.
I would definitely recommend this place to any single or couple wanting a quite, comfortable place to stay for any length of time.
After having stayed at the Cottage ourselves, purchased a visit for my daughter and son in law. Upon entering they were immediately mesmerised by the gorgeous, fun, and comfortable furnishings. The cottage was beautifully appointed, clean and welcoming with the heater on and a cosy couch waiting. Thank you for all that you did.
Clean and comfortable.
Well stocked with everything we needed.
Communication with Susan was great.
Off street parking space more suited to a small car.
With a big car it was difficult to get in and out of.
Enjoyed our stay.
Thank you
The Machiya was exactly what we needed! Old world eclectic charm with all the amenities necessary to make your stay pleasant! Aldi is just around the corner and we picked up some dinner kits that were delicious! We checked out the wineries in the Mornington Peninsula and of course enjoyed swimming and sunbathing at the beach which was close by! Susan surprised us with some happy hour goodies and a beautiful arrangement! The gardens here are stunning and the Jasmine was in full bloom and smelled wonderful! We had breakfast one morning out in the garden area! This place is a beauty! Great value, great hosts, great beach!

Lovely and warm when we entered the cottage, friendly welcoming hostess who had taken the time to leave a cheese platter in the fridge and chocolates on the bench. Clean and tidy, with beautiful linen on the bed, and everything imaginable that you would need in the kitchen, we enjoyed our picnic , using your containers and picnic backpack. Thanks again Susan. Wifi was a little interrupted at times. Apart from that it was a perfect place to stay.
Very cute and well furnished cottage with lots of nice touches to make it feel nice and homely. PM was very friendly and always available to provide help. The little nibbles available in the fridge when I arrived were very appreciated and helped me feel at home.
Lots of blankets and towels are provided as well. The private garden is beautiful, and the house was filled with nice plants and fresh flowers. The gas stove is an old model and needs manual lighting, but i figured it out using one of the lighters provided. The location was very good, within walking distance of shops, 2 beaches and next to a train line. Its located in a very quaint seaside town. Perfect place for a solo trip or with a partner. I hope to visit again sometime in the future
The property had charm with its amazing gardens and excellent location. Susan was good at providing the check in information which we really appreciated. We also thought the price for our 9-night stay during the holiday season was reasonable, however, there were downsides which were disappointing. The cottage was clean but felt very dated with old personal items everywhere and too many indoor plants to navigate around including the entrance to the cottage, plants need to be trimmed back. The fridge was too small and needs a larger one. The TV is outdated, needs a Smart TV. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. No washing machine; there is space for one. The bathroom taps, hard to turn off and dripped and when I informed the host, they looked at them on day 2 but did not fix the problem. The floors were very creaky and at times felt like we would go through them. I get that it is an old cottage but some areas of the floors need attention. The host lives at the back of the property and at times was doing work which was noisy on public holidays, grinding (New Years Day) and also water pressure cleaning (Boxing Day morning), a quick message to let us know they were doing some work would have been considerate, other than that it was quiet. If you are looking for a simple place with an old-fashioned vibe and don’t mind quirks this cottage could work for you for a short getaway for longer term stayers the points above should be addressed as the cottage has great potential.
