Surf Motel and Gardens

4/10 Poor

"Don't be fooled by the photos posted on websites. The rooms are not a nice as the photos they post. The following is not based on one persons opinion with one room; but, a combination of reviews from 3 people, each staying in separate rooms. When opening the basked of the coffee maker there was an old coffee/filter still in there and it was moldy! There is a desk with a desk chair - however the chair does not go up high enough to work comfortably on your laptop at the desk. Lighting in the room is yellowish and dark; which leads one to think they are hiding something disgusting...the mind reels. The blinds were broken. 2 of us, did not trust the linens so slept on top of the bedspread. Overall - an overpriced 19 hours (in 4 PM out 11 AM). I will say this - the young man who checked us in was very nice."

"Location is cool. View of beach was good. We were lucky with where the room was. Trees can block View depending where your room is. We had no kitchen. Walls are thin. So you can hear people's mumbling sometimes, Doors closing. 5 mins from the skunk train, shops, bars and restaurants. I would stay here again. Staff is available 24 hours which is great incase you need towels late into the night."

"I LOVED the lock box key card for people who travel late. The property isn’t 24 hours because it is a small town but they do give you options to have your key card in a lock box with a unique code for those who arrive late. We arrived at midnight and were able to get into our room perfectly! I ended up needing extra towels and a broom (due to breaking a glass personal item) and they had maintenance come and clean it up even though i told them i would happily do so! Staff was always Friendly. We stayed there for 2 days and the breakfast was the same. Biscuits, Gravy (no sausage), Sausage patties, potato’s, waffles, oatmeal, and other items that you would typically see. No apple juice, so that got a 0 star for me."
