We were a group of friends traveling together during peak heat (105 degrees Fahrenheit). The rooms were very comfortable, the pool area perfectly relaxing, and the location very easy.
We loved this house. Its proximity to many parts of the city made it perfect for walking around in the evening when it cooled off. The pool and AC kept us very comfortable during the day. The host was beyond helpful. Would 10/10 recommend and return!
We stayed a week at this property and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Adrian was amazing taking care of anything we needed and suggesting places to eat and to see. Our check in was so easy and Adrian was there waiting for us ehen we were abit early.
We had a lovely visit in Mérida! The house is a short walk to the main plaza and Santa Lucia Park. The ACs worked great and there was plenty of privacy for each room. The property manager was very helpful and his recommendations were excellent.
We had a wonderful stay. Check in was easy and the home is GORGEOUS. We loved the courtyard with the pool - so tranquil and relaxing. The location was great - two cute restaurants right outside and the market and a small grocery store (Aki) down the street. The location was also super convenient - we walked everywhere the whole trip. If ever visit Merida again, we would love to stay here again.
Only a few blocks walk to great restaurants and shopping, this house was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. Kitchen was well equipped for what we needed but I’d not want to have too many people in the kitchen at one time. Pool stayed cool and refreshing even in high temps (40 C) and lots of comfortable seating was provided. Very quiet at night and the AC worked flawlessly. Would definitely return.
The house is comfortable and well represented in the photos. The location of the property is in the Santiago neighborhood close to markets, parks and restaurants.
The team at Mérida Rentals was great, especially Sergio. He is very responsive and attentive to all your requests and checked on us a few times to make sure we were comfortable.
Laura is an excellent housekeeper. The house was spotless when we checked in and she cleaned again during our stay.

10 days in Merida
This is a very nice home, and it was very comfortable to stay and be property manager Sergio was excellent.
Unfortunately, there are absolutely zero instructions on how to run a house of three bedrooms.
It somebody to show how to utilize the television.. but it had all of the Internet sites available.
Swimming pool is cleaned only once a week which made it unuseable after the first week, but other than that the house was a pleasure and the team came to answer. Any questions was excellent. I would advise to rent this home.
A huge part of me wants to not recommend this place because I love it so much and always want it to be available when I want to book it.
I just completed my second stay in this beautiful home. I couldn't wait to show it off to my friends and they were equally impressed and equally sad that we had to leave.
My only complaint is the hot water in the shower doesn't stay hot for too long, but it wasn't a major inconvenience for us.
This place is a visual feast. The tiles and stonework are absolutely stunning. The high ceilings and mini splits maintained a very comfortable temperature inside.
This house is great for multiple couples because every bedroom's ensuite has a double vanity.
The kitchen is well stocked with all the plates, cups, cutlery, and cleaning products you need.
The location is perfect. A coffee shop opened 3 doors down. The staff is very nice and they have delicious pastries. Many affordable restaurants, bars, cafes, and spas are a stone's throw away. In addition, it's walking distance from the bus station where you can get a bus to Progreso for 12 pesos. That's less than one American or Canadian dollar!
I hope you all enjoy this gorgeous, comfortable, and affordable place, but not too much, because I want to be able to book again!
This is the second time we used VRBO for our family vacation. We found a dozen houses in downtown Merida that matched our criteria, but we all agreed on Casa Yucateca from the photos.
The booking and the communication with the property owner were easy. Marco was very responsive to our questions. He recommended some wonderful restaurants in town.
The house and rooms looked just like the photos but were even better in person. The simple but tasteful design/decoration exuded its charm. The three large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, were perfect for the three of us.
There was a “care package” on a plate in the living room and it was very thoughtful. We were provided with a bag of coffee, teas, sugar, creams, and snacks. We arrived late so we could not get to the market (10 minutes’ walk) to get coffee/breakfast for the next morning. There was a 5-gallon bottle of water in the kitchen, and this was great since we did not have time to buy bottled water yet. These little care details made the stay more enjoyable.
The dining table was next to the pool, and we used it every day, especially for our morning breakfast Al frescos. The pool is nice to cool down after our daily tours.
The house location was great. It took 10 to 15 minutes to walk to downtown plazas where there are many good restaurants and shops. We felt safe walking around between the restaurant and home.
We definitely recommend Casa Yucateca to friends and family who want to visit Merida.
Adrian was responsive and helpful. The home was clean, well-furnished, spacious, and a really excellent location for our visit. We really enjoyed our stay and would book this property again.
We really enjoyed staying at this beautiful unique colonial villa. The pool area located in the center of house is stunning. It was super clean and perfect place to cool off. The location was perfect distance to all the restaurants and cultural events taking place at the center of town. Parking was easy to find. We admired the Maya decor and tile. I will definitely love to book again.
The house was set up very well with ensuite bedrooms situated separately for privacy. The pool was a great common area for all to spend time. Plus the location is approx 8-10 min walk to the centre. We really enjoyed our stay.
Fabulous house, with plenty of space, close to everything - Santiago Market, Santa Lucia square, nice walk to the Paseo. Giorgio was amazing and very responsive to anything we needed. The pool and outdoor seating area were our favourite place to relax! Would stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay in Merida. The house was well organized, clean and very convenient. We were able to walk to the mercado everyday for lunch and get to anywhere in the city. Just wonderful!
The property was beautiful. Very clean, spacious and beautiful combo of indoor/outdoor living. It’s far enough away from the central plaza to be very quiet but plenty close to walk in. Parking on street by the house was very easy.
Our party of 4 adults stayed for 3 nights. The home had everything we needed. The gas grill was wonderful for our last evening. The beds were very comfortable, washer and dryer a plus, furnished water was huge help. Location was close to grocery and many great cantinas, cathedral, museum etc.
I only wish we could have found an on-Off bus tour with English speaking guides. The Mayan market was close but a lot of the same things you saw everywhere much cheAper.
Balam, Impala, Maiz Canela Cilantro, La Recova-St Lucia were all great places to eat and refresh. The st. Lucia Park area was great.
Owner was very accommodating. Any problems were fixed before we were even aware of them. We were lucky and honored to stay here. I've visited Merida 4+ in the past decade and this property and it's location are a rare find in my opinion. Don't wait
Since the very first day we entered the property, a beautiful colonial home that allowed us to immerse ourselves into the Santiago area, we fell in love with all the people we met in Merida. The property was outstanding and so clean. The property management team were professional, attentive, kind, and warm. Immediately across the street was a neighborhood restaurant that served exceptional dishes. Such a quaint establishment. We ate there more than once for breakfast and dinner. Our family did not want to go home. We will definitely be back! We are so grateful to everyone who made our family trip so special. ❤️ Wholeheartedly, awesome!
Still waiting for a refund Don’t Stay Here - Terrible place
We rented this “luxury” rental for 4 weeks. Within the first two weeks the pool pump never worked every day. The property manager was in the home every day except 3. We didn’t have hot water twice. A bathroom pipe burst twice and then they refused to refund the last two weeks stay even though we left. The front door has holes in it and the locks were loose letting in all the street dirt and noise. This pics are old. The kitchen ran out of gas for the stove, the outdoor shower is over the lounge chairs and it’s all fake. Algae all over the rock garden and cracking walls and peeling paint all over.’VRBO is no help in getting help. The owners are trash people who think they can tell you to just change rooms if the bathroom is flooding. They said old houses have problems. They should not be on this platform.

Casa Yucateca Great Location
Overall, it was a positive stay in a large colonial home. It is plenty spacious for six people with 3 large bedrooms and bathrooms as shown in the photos. We enjoyed the pool and the outdoor living space daily. It is an exceptional central location, and an easy walk to cafes, cantinas, plazas, parks, and markets. A local market is about 2 blocks away where one can purchase fresh fruit and vegetables daily. The kitchen was adequate, but does not have an oven. There were a few issues, but the management company and owner responded promptly. Since we had limited Spanish, the most difficult aspect was directly communicating with the property management since the people who answered phones had limited understanding of English.

Disappointed
We stayed 56 nights. Given the length of the stay and previous experiences, we knew issues would arise. In the first ten nights of our stay the following occurred:AC unit in master bedroom malfunctionedBBQ not operating properly No hot water to entire houseSmell in kitchen requiring a candle to maskGate lock fails and we are locked in the houseNo water to master bathroomToilet seat breaksDuring the remainder if the stay we lost hot water again, lost all water to master bathroom, another AC unit malfunctions, the washer leaks water and then will not complete cycles. These issues were addressed by local management until the last week of our stay when issues were not addressed. Initially, we were informing the Host of the issues. In short order he became frustrated with our repeated messages. He minimized the issues, called his property pristine and was aggressively irritated by our communication and said I was not acting how a good guest would. I never communicated with Marco again. My general opinion is that the house has not been well maintained. All potential guests should also note that the kitchen is 10X8 and has no air conditioning. There are numerous wine glasses, but only 4 other glasses. Dishrack and silverware tray were filthy and had to be replaced. 5G Wi-Fi is available in the front room. 3G is available at the pool and upstairs bedroom. There is no Wi-Fi in the master bedroom. The only dining area is outside with a fan.

OK, but...
We booked in April but the State Department was so backlogged I didn't get my passport until the week after the scheduled trip. Marco/Georgio was helpful in allowing us to change the dates of our stay for a month later and for that I am very appreciative.
Onward. The pictures you see are what you will get. It looks nice enough but...
The kitchen had a foul odor that kept us going in only to access the coffee and fridge. The drawers had cockroaches scuttling over the utensils, plates, cups, basically everything. Wash before use is the best course of action in there. There is very poor water pressure and the sinks in the bathrooms don't drain very well and some don't have hot and cold water but vary at each sink. The toilets barely flush so be prepared to find the plunger.
The courtyard pool looks amazing, the owner described it as a peaceful oasis but peaceful must mean something different to the owner. There is a property to the right of the rental that is undergoing open demolition. Jack hammers. Pounding. Drilling. It was constant and you can see it has been going on for a VERY LONG TIME!
I contacted the owner and he claimed it must have just started the day we arrived but that isn't true. It has been ongoing for years according to the workers.
And the workers. Raised voices, ok yelling and screaming from 7 to 7 every day with the exception of Sunday. If you have children that understand Spanish this is not a good place for you to stay. The vulgarity was astonishing. And they peer over the common wall between the properties so be prepared for that eventuality.
When I tried to contact the owner he fell silent. He eventually offered to refund the remaining days but I didn't feel secure in taking the offer. I had no guarantee he would follow through and his earlier dishonesty was the "once bitten/twice shy" analogy at play for me.
We tried contacting Vrbo and spent three hours on hold and being transferred until they terminated the call while I was on hold. They were of no assistance.
I was very disappointed with the events as they occurred and will not use Vrbo for future stays or go back to hotels.
When you over promise and under deliver you assume the risk of ruining the guest experience. That is what happened here. I would not have booked this property if I had known it WAS NOT a peaceful oasis but more a construction zone that diminished our stay to one that was the opposite of what we were looking for. Sad...
