"Very relaxing. If you want crazy party vibe not the place for you unless you plan to drive. If you are looking to relax, and occasionally drive, then this place is for you. Great staff, great food, great drinks. Very chill."

"This is a very pleasant and well-run outfit. However, we were disappointed by the beach area, which wasn't really a beach but felt more like a concrete slab with a thin kayer of sand spread on top. Sadly, the shore all down Ambergris Caye was choked with a foul smelling algae bloom which made it impossible to swim and ruined the entire island atmosphere. The location is ok if you have wheels, but if you don't it's too far away from the shops, which is a real bother seeing as the hotel doesn't do breakfast."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely location. The villa was large and airy, immaculately clean, and wonderfully peaceful — perfect for relaxing. The views from the windows were stunning and added so much to the experience. The staff made the trip even better: they were friendly, informative, and went out of their way to be helpful with recommendations and any questions we had. Great value and highly recommended for anyone looking for a calm, comfortable getaway."
Portofino Beach Resort

"Portofino is a beautiful, quaint little resort. We have stayed in their small cabanas a number of times. They are rustic and simple. The resort grounds include a lovely salt water pool, a dock, a small reception area, a small outdoor bar with a beautiful patio under large sea grape trees as well as a restaurant above the reception area that overlooks the gorgeous sea and barrier reef. Overall, it is simply beautiful and relaxing. The frontline staff are phenomenal, truly great and caring human beings. They really make the stay very special. This July 2026 stay, however, we experienced a few disappointments in comparison to past stays. The restaurant food was not as good overall as we have experienced in the past. Most disappointing in respect to the amenities was the removal of the water taxi as an option for going into San Pedro or to other resorts. We were truly saddened not to have that available given how far Portofino is from the city. The biggest challenge, though, was the lack of available beach front and ocean water. While not a reflection on the resort itself, the large amount of seagassum was disgusting and the smell sickening. Sadly, it extended out past the end of the dock."

"We had an absolutely wonderful vacation in Belize! The VRBO was beautiful, comfortable, and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the area. Our host was incredibly welcoming, the caretaker was helpful and attentive, and having a private chef made the experience extra special. "First a couple insights and tips for preparing for your stay. You are a long way from supplies like food and drinks so unless you plan on eating out and buying drinks, plan a grocery stop prior to your arrival. I was traveling with my full family so we requested a stop in Belize City prior to our water taxi departure. Having a few meals planned offset a lot of worry once we arrived.Second, fly or water taxi. Our flight landed as the last local flight was departing so the water taxi was necessary. It permitted a good haul of groceries but it is a 2 hour trip, not 1 hour to San Pedro. Bring your Dramamine and some Tylenol because after two hours… you get the picture.Third, use Roberto. I was not aware that our recommended scuba guide was also the boat taxi driver. Had we known I would not have scheduled a different service that ended up being late. This is a different country and maybe that is par for service but insure all your plans are verified and you have the means to contact them upon your arrival.Finally, the spot is beautiful. The house is sufficiently air conditioned, the beds cozy, the porch view stunning, the pool delightful. The view is above the sargasso smell so it makes an excellent site to hang out and read. The ad mentions a dvd player which we planned on for evening wind down with kids but it didn’t work. More time to read and chat, which was good."

"Property was beautiful and very well maintained. Check in was thorough and well explained as well as the check out process. This is also such a great location with plenty of privacy, but still close enough to everything. Adults, teens, and kids loved it!"
