Welcome to The Fireplace Inn, a cozy and inviting retreat in the heart of Beachwalk Resort! Recently refreshed with a new coat of paint and thoughtful updates under new ownership as of January 2025, this charming coach house is perfect for a small family or a group of friends looking for a relaxing getaway. Whether you're staying solo or pairing it with the adjacent Talk House for larger gatherings, this space is sure to make you feel right at home.

Your Beachwalk Experience
Flip-flops are a must for your summer stay! Located just steps from the private resort pool (complete with a heated pool, toddler pool, and a splash pad), you'll find endless fun for all ages. Pack the complimentary wagon with your beach essentials and enjoy a leisurely 5-minute walk to the private shores of Lake Kai. Don’t forget to stop by the snack shop for a soft-serve ice cream cone along the way!

Comfortable Accommodations
Bedroom 1: Queen bed with fresh, crisp linens.
Bedroom 2: Twin-over-twin bunk beds, perfect for kids or additional guests.
Bathroom: Standalone full bath stocked with fluffy towels and essentials.

Location
Conveniently located in Beachwalk Resort, The Fireplace Inn is directly across from the swimming pool and sprinkler pad and a short walk to Lake Kai and other resort amenities.

Parking
One designated parking space is available along the street in front of the house. Please refrain from parking in front of the garage.

No smoking or vaping indoors.
No parties or fireworks.
Must be 25+ years old to reserve and stay.

Resort Amenities
Enjoy all the perks of Beachwalk Resort, including a 4-ft heated pool, toddler pool, basketball and tennis courts, bocce ball, shuffleboard, Sandcastle playground, paddleboarding and kayaking, catch-and-release fishing, and more! Wristbands ($15 each) and parking passes ($5 each) are required mid-May through September for guests aged 4 and older. Some amenities are only available in summer season. Please check with the Beachwalk office to confirm.
The Fireplace Inn is available to rent with a 7-night stay in peak season, with check-in & check-out on Fridays.

We LOVE this resort! It was so much fun on Labor Day weekend. The staff was friendly and very responsive. The community was great. The pool was still warm enough. The park was also amazing! My kids loved every minute and cried when we left. The short walk to the lake from our property (by the office) was perfect. We did find a few spiders in the guest house which is not their fault and may have been the time of year. I didn’t realize we booked the guesthouse when I booked but it was great for a short stay with good weather for a family of 4! Not much room to kick back and relax.

Cute, Serviceable Home Base

The property doesn't over-promise and it worked out great for our purpose, which was to have a "home base" while visiting family nearby. While the kitchen and deck were great to have, I would't plan on spending too much time in the house as it is quite small! Great deck, relative privacy for the development. The Beachwalk resort itself seems good for families, we were a bit out of place as a group of four adults! Awesome beach access. Certainly preferable location-wise as compared with hotels in Michigan City or other properties with difficult access to beaches and local amenities.

The outside furniture which I understand will be replaced is so rusty, I can’t imagine sitting on it. We like the location and for that reason will likely stay again. Please do not use my comments for any reason even by referring to my location. Any friend recommendation would be with a caveat about need for update. I think it is fair to say couch needs to be cleaned if not replaced.

A nice place for a quick getaway

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental was just as shown in the pictures. It is small but has two bedrooms (one is very small with bunk beds, good for kids) and a washer/dryer, which came in very handy for a beach vacation. Contrary to the info we were given, there was no dishwasher, but we really didn't miss it. The location was great - a short block to the pool and coffee shop, just off the main road. A few things to consider - it is on the second floor so be prepared to climb the stairs. The deck is small and the deck furniture is metal so not very comfortable. Inside, as it is small, there is limited seating. The couch was not very clean. The single non-kitchen chair was very old, with no springs left. Sitting in it was very uncomfortable. It would be nice if they replaced it with a newer one. We stayed only a few nights and it was just the two of us, so it was fine. With more people, or for a longer stay, it would not be our choice. We must add - the people onsite were very nice and helpful. We called maintenance for one small thing and someone came right away and solved the issue.

Easy checkin and the place was clean.That said, it was very outdated. Furniture was old, beds uncomfortable. Bathroom and cabinets not in great shape. Doors would not lock. Fireplace would not work. One small tv on the floor. Deck wood was old with splinters. BBQ did not look like something we wanted to cook on. Overall, I would not recommend anyone to stay there.

I only have a couple small complaints:• The cookware is sparse. It would be nice to have a complete, set of pots and pans. • Bizarrely, the tub had no handle with which to turn on the water. I luckily had a vice grip in my car, so we were able to make it work. I told the Beachwalk office about this issue. They were all very nice, as was the repair person who came over. However, the issue was never resolved, and if I'm honest, I think I could have done with more communication from the office. Even if they had just finally told me they couldn't get the part that week, I would've appreciated that.

Great for a Small Family!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay at Bus Stop! The best part of this property is definitely the location and proximity to the pool/lake/snack shop! We spent all of our time split between the beach and at the pool so this location was ideal. Bus Stop, was small and cozy, but we didn't spend much time indoors anyway and was exactly as presented on the website. The small size could have been a problem if the weather was bad for prolonged periods of time. Everyone was helpful and friendly at all portions of the reservation process and during our stay. Our 16 year old was disappointed to hear that the Golf Cart drivers had to be 18. It was frustrating when the private owners had young kids driving their golf carts throughout the property. The landscaping looked as if it had not been tended to in a very long time. However, many of the other properties in the area had similar overgrown grass and weeds, so perhaps this was a side effect of the pandemic or done intentionally for another reason. It looked sloppy, but that didn't affect our stay at all! We were close to grocery stores and restaurants, making it easy to accommodate any needs that arose. I appreciated the small and affordable option for our small family and would definitely return and recommend to others!

The interior is very dated, but we expected that & it didn’t impact our stay. It was affordable & a great option for a quick trip with our family. The biggest issue we faced were ants. Had we stayed longer than 2 nights it would have been more of a concern. They were on the tables and counters. We had to keep all the food in the fridge for that reason. We did inform management and they said they would look into it after we left.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were basically right across the street from the pool, which was directly next to lake Kai, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. At Lake Kai, you can kayak, paddle board, and fish. We were able to walk right down the street to Sheridan Beach. At the park across from the house, there are weekly concerts on Saturday evening. At Bus Stop, however, things appeared to be GENERALLY clean, but there were a few problems. We couldn't get the bedroom ceiling fan to turn on, the headboard was looselu sitting between the bed and the wall, which banged around every time one of us adjusted positions. There were some sort of stains that looked like blood on the sheets, there were plenty of dishes, some clean, some put away dirty. The oven was exceptionally clean, but I assume as a place like this, the oven is rarely used. At one point, a pillow fell behind the nightstand. I retrieved it, along with a generous portion of dust bunnies and hair. Upon arrival, there was a piece of a cookie or some other chocolatey treat on the back of the chair in the little living room\tv area. On the back side of the lower deck, there was a little sprayer\shower hose, presumably to wash off sand from the beach, but the water to it was shut off, which we couldn't access. I found dog treats wedged in the cushions of the couch. As far as available supplies, there was a 3/4 empty bottle of olive oil (we bought and left a full one), a roll of paper towels, a roll, maybe 2, of toilet paper, 2 or 3 laundry detergent pods (we left a barely used bag of these as well), maybe a foot or 2 left on a roll of aluminum foil, and I think that was about it. Overall, the location was great, along with all the local activities. Housekeeping could use a significant boost. It appears that they haphazardly run in there and tidy up real quick, before the next guests are to arrive. Much more time and attention is needed in regards to cleanliness, and maybe make sure a few more supplies are readily available.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The dishes were dirty which made us wonder how clean the rest of place was. The snack shop was closed early several days. One day it was closed at 11 am. There aren’t a lot of good options nearby so that was a bummer. The houses are very cute and we enjoyed riding bikes around. The pool was crowded and loud so we didn’t use it much. The internet WiFi was not great so that could have been better.
