Less than half a hour’s drive to Ararat. Cute cottage located right next to the cellar door. Comfy bed, hot shower, and provision of fresh coffee via a quality machine made for a pleasant stay.

Great stay in a lovely spot.

Lovely spot and wonderful place. We were treated with breakfast goodies and had a wonderful stay. The place was warmed up for us and the fire set for us. We had a wonderful time and will be back.

Google maps is a problem which the owners acknowledged. Signage to the actual house could be a little better. But overall, quiet and peaceful. Delighted with the extra breakfast items supplied.

Blue House at Mountainside Wines was fresh and clean, quiet and private, and extremely comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing short break. Jane was friendly and helpful on our arrival, and we really enjoyed chatting with her when we went to the Cellar Door to try their fabulous wines. Besides that, we had all the privacy and quiet we could ask for, only broken by the uplifting sounds of birds in the trees outside. When we forced ourselves to go out, Ararat was about 20 mins drive, and Halls Gap a lovely 1 hr drive. But the highlight of staying at the Blue House is sitting out on the verandah overlooking the vineyard, in the late afternoon sun, with some wine, cheese or whatever, and watching the cockatoos fly to and fro. Absolute Bliss. I will definitely come back again.

How's the serenity

Jane and Shane are lovely hosts. We had a great time chatting and laughing whilst learning about their beautiful wines. A gorgeous little get away and perfect place to take in the views, drink wine and forget about everything for a while and just 'be in the moment' The already set fire place was a wonderful homely touch and the selection of games were an added bonus for inside, once we finally moved off the deck. Highly recommend this as a place to stay and will definitely be back!

Idyllic farm setting only a short drive from Ararat. Lovely hosts, a very clean blue house with a super comfy bed. After sleeping like little babies we got woken by the sheep grazing at our doorstep, had freshly collected eggs from the farm for breakfast and remembered a life without the noise and rush.

Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

A bit of the beaten track, it was a lovely secluded (but safe) spot with views over the boutique winery and countryside, wild kangaroos and sheep moving in the early morning. The Blue house has been beautifully refurbished and very comfortable.

Tranquil night in a winery

Beautiful location, peaceful, located between three mountains. Perfect for star gazing with no ambient light. Sat on the deck, played games and watched two wedge-tailed eagles floating around. Jane kindly offered us a wine tasting at her winery. Little kitchenette with hot plate and BBQ.

Quiet winery getaway

We really enjoyed are time st this delightful house. So quiet and everything we could need. No television upset my partner but no problem really. Highly recommend.

A perfect short break

We wanted a night away from it all, peaceful surroundings and time to relax. The Blue House was perfect. A cosy self contained cottage with a wine cellar right next door. We arrived early afternoon and was met by Jane and were made to feel at home. After a relaxing afternoon (reading) we had a wine tasting session and then a stroll up the hill to enjoy the serenity! Jane and Shane are wonderful hosts and we were able to relax in comfort, enjoy the wood fire in the evening and our evening meal, listening to occasional kookaburra and magpie.

This is a true "get away" location. It is off a very minor road, up a country track, and set among the vines of a small vineyard/winery. There is no Internet, no TV and generally no mobile phone reception. The cottage has all that one needs for a self-contained stay. The wood heater adds character, and much-needed warmth during the colder months. The hosts are a very pleasant couple who left the city a few years ago to take over an established vineyard/winery, and are making interesting and good wines. Make sure you take up their offer of a personalised tasting of their wines - it was the highlight of our stay.

Perfect getaway - no distractions other than the e

This was a getaway and a chance to visit an area I had not been too. I understood there was no phone/internet/tv conectability and this suited me fine. The Blue House was right in the vineyard and gave the chance to drink the wine from the vines on the balcony. The hosts could not do enough but were also respectful of privacy. They gave me a private tasting and tour of the winery as vintage was happening. The Blue house wanted for nothing and one could be as warm or as cool as wished. An easy 5 stars from me.

Enjoy an escape from the hustle and bustle.

Our hosts, Jayne and Shane, greeted our arrival, otherwise doing their best to give us complete privacy. We could not have chosen a better place to spend getting away from it all. This self catering accommodation, at an established winery, may not suit everyone, but is ideal for an older couple, hikers, country lovers, nature lovers, and indeed also for young lovers. It is not suitable for couples with children, however, pets are welcome, by arrangement. There is no TV and poor mobile phone coverage, making it, for us, an enjoyable respite from the pressures of daily city life. The air conditioned Blue House cottage appeared to also have heating to suit most weather conditions.
