Wonderfully peaceful while we were there during two weekday nights after school started. Enjoyed short drive along Rock River to Lowden State Park to see Back Hawk statue. Also highly recommend stopping by the Japanese Garfdens in Rockford while you are in the area - only an hour away.

It could definitely be cleaner we had spider webs on top of the lamp, the twin bed sheets or mattress cover were dirty, floor not clean had a lot of dust and the bathroom was definitely dirty the bathtub was also dirty. Other than that it was a good stay the surrounding of nature is beautiful.

We stayed in one of the cabins it was clean and comfortable. The park was beautiful! We did not see a place for a private fire at the cabin area, just a community fire pit.

Parking was very convenient. Room was very clean. Drawbacks would be how hard the bed was. But all in all a great little getaway place.

Our accommodations were in a "Quad cabin". Request a single cabin to avoid hearing absolutely everything for adjoining rooms.

The cabins are not fancy but very adequate. The bed was fine. For us the main attraction was the outdoors. Quiet. Good walking trails of varying difficulty. The are signs of upkeep not being done probably due to a shortfall of state funding but the critical things are being cared for. We were there for only two nights and was a very nice place for a little getaway.

The trundle bed only had a bottom sheet that was dirty and stained. There were cobwebs in the light fixtures. Nice location but the room needed a good cleaning.

Really cool CCC-made cabins that are so solid. Cool inside but they have AC and a gas fireplace with a small fridge and TV with digital channels. LOTS of character. Some false ladybugs and you may get a visit from a resident mouse but put a granola bar out for her and she’ll party in the bathroom and stop making noise in the bedroom. The restaurant food is really good—try the fish fry! And the area is beautiful and great for walking/hiking, birding, and fishing/wading. Plenty of parking.
