"Nice hotel, close to Volcano National Park. Comfortable room, but fairly basic. Excellent, friendly staff and the food was excellent for dinner. Includes a free breakfast too. Had a hottub and a really nice hiking trail. Overall, great place to stay while visiting the park and would go back."

"If you like quiet, remote and clean with friendly hosts- this is your place. The bed was super comfortable. The stars can be vividly seen at night and the coqi frogs lull you to sleep. The outdoor shower is awesome. Glen and Lisa were very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. You can’t beat the accommodations for the price. "

"I would not recommend this hotel, unless there were no other decent choices. The front desk wasn't friendly or particular helpful both days we were there. Room was not great, none of us slept, roach on nightstand next to me. The reason I didn't give it lower was because of the bar restaurant. We were tired and hungry when we got in so went for the casual food in the bar area. Server was terrific, food was very good and live band playing was honestly incredible. This was the only good thing about our hotel experience. "

"The house was clean; beds and pillows were comfortable; host was fabulous - communicated very well, helpful with local information; while there were homes close you could not hear or see them, very "peace"-ful area; out of town Hilo, but not far; Foodland & Safeway is Kroger(midwest); kitchen and frig well stocked; the observation loft was too scary for us to venture up; the grill and fire pit were wonderful; enjoyed the back deck daily. Frogs of all sizes were vocal at night which was nice and visible during the day. The feral cats added a nice home feel to the property. The fans in the rooms were great. Full sized Washer and Dryer worked great. Supplies were very helpful in kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and for water activities. There are family games which was nice to fill in down time. Only suggestion would be to manicure and add rock to the driveway but it was early in the season with spring growth. We cannot say enough great things about this host, Jenny. Very friendly, texts to check on things but leaves you alone to not feel "watched", but gives comfort that she is available when needed. 30 minutes from Volcano National Park and everything in Hilo. 2.5 hours from Kona (scenic route); almost 3 hours from Waimea. There is a "Cafe" on the SR going toward Hilo, right after you turn right onto the main road - very inviting. Farmers markets are not great this time of year because everything is starting to grow. Go to Phoenix Coffee, ABC for souvenirs, & Hapuna Beach."
