The house Is not very near to the beaches buy this particular Is fully compensated by the house and by host assistance.
A real nice place to stay in peace with your family and friends. As a plus, a subtle flavour of tradition tipical of italian and green style.
Quiet location at the end of a winding road. Perfect to relax away from everything. Close to small town (15 mins) that will service all your needs.
House well equipt and the pool area is fabulous.
Mountain farmhouse with gardens, multiple entertainment areas and pool
Perfect for a week with family where we could relax, cook and eat together. Separate sleeping quarters meant our son with our young grandchildren had their own space. We all loved the gardens and pool, enjoyed making orange juice daily, and made good use of the charcoal bbq and pizza oven. Property better than described. Our small and medium rental cars were ok on the narrow winding roads and through villages. Do a grocery shop in any of the five supermarkets and butcher in Perama before you arrive. Best not to waste precious pool time driving those mountain roads.
Our family of six adults and three children thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely villa. It was spacious and well laid out. The grounds were terraced, filled with large trees and plants, and a pool that is large and gorgeous. It was also completely fenced, gated and private. The family successfully updated the amenities without losing the charm and character of the era in which it was built. The location was remote, but since we had rented a vehicle, we had no problem getting where we wanted to go and back. I would highly recommend this villa to any group looking for an out of the ordinary place that is both large and comfortable.

Wonderful villa; charming owner
After a disastrous 24 hours elsewhere on Crete, after which we walked out of the villa we had booked, we luckily made contact with the delightful Antonios Hatzidakis, who immediately came to our rescue. He bent over backwards to help us, allowing us to stay in Villa Aretheusa while Villa Agni was made ready for us, and going well out of his way to make sure that all our needs were met. I cannot speak too highly of his helpfulness, throughout our stay in Crete.
Villa Agni is very special. It is located about 20 minutes back from the coast, in the high and unspoilt village of Kastri, about half way up the Mt Ida range. Although it takes about 15 mins on distinctly rural roads to reach a taverna or supermarket, this minor disadvantage is easily outweighed by the many advantages of quietness, privacy and seeing the real Crete. And of course Kastri is much nearer some of the inland attractions, such as the Amari Valley and Moni Arkhadiou, and the scenic inland routes with their breathtaking views. A car is essential.
An architect, Mr Hatzidakis has turned his characterful family home into a superbly well appointed villa, that was spotlessly clean and tidy. The upper part of the house (with kitchen, dining room, sitting room, one bedroom with shower/loo and outside dining area) is adjoining but physically separate from the lower part, which has the remaining bedrooms, shower etc. A few outside steps, within the villa's fenced and gated grounds, join the two. The large swimming pool is very cleverly built out from the side of a slope, with nothing beneath it but olive trees and grazing sheep and goats. Trees are planted so that it is not overlooked. Above the swimming pool is another, arboured and private, dining area which shares the poolside's lovely view towards hills.
We loved Villa Agni. We happened to recognise one of the previous guests in the book as a former UK ambassador to Greece, and it says much that he chose this quiet, rural but luxurious villa. For those who are prepared to be away from the fleshspots (but within 20 mins of good tavernas etc) we recommend it unreservedly.
Alles vorhanden was man so benötigt.
Great nice guests, very welcoming. A wonderful house with charm of ancient property, very comfortable and set amongst olive trees and lovely garden , with great swimming pool, nice view of mountains. Only missing equipment (in my opinion) is dishwasher. Note also that internet is available but was very slow during our stay. We highly recommend.

A road from hell
Private villa with private pool and amazing view in an unspoilt environment
Don’t be fooled by the pictures! The Villa is nice but it will take you at least 20 minutes to drive the 10 km from the village. The road is outrageously narrow and tortuous, especially since we were driving a van. One part of the trip to the villa is on a road that is so narrow that you pray that no car will be coming face to face with you, as there is no place to move over. On one side you have the mountain and on the other one a very deep ravine and of course no guard rail! We did not expect anything like this. We are used to small roads but that one was out of this world. Also, I was travelling with 80 and 78 years old family members and they were completely shaken by the time we got the villa. I had a discussion with the owner but the only thing suggested was to relocate us to another villa 4 kms from the village for an enormous extra cost. They could not tell me the price of one night in that new villa compared to the one in Villa Agni! As we had already spent a little more than a large amount for the week, we decided we could not afford that solution, and of course, they did not want to refund us. We were stuck there in the mountains with nothing around. We traveled twice at night and got lost both times and it took us 1.5 hours to find our way back! GPS was getting lost also. The property is nice but skip all the details. First, they charge what I think is a ridiculous amount per day to heat the pool. Apparently as a good gesture, they were supposed to heat it up for us, free. The water was freezing cold. Ants are crawling everywhere in the kitchen. The refrigerator alarm goes off all day and night. Since the temperature can not be adjusted,, everything was freezing. AC unit in the double bedroom downstairs does not work. Door of that bedroom is not opening or closing properly, frame ready to fall off. Quite impossible to unlock the main bathroom door downstairs. You have to push with your knee to close the half bathroom door downstairs. In addition, no, I did not call them to fix anything, after the way they treated us, we did not want to have to deal with them!

Gut ausgestattetes Haus in schöner Landschaft, feranb vom Mainstream Tourismus
a) Vom Flughafen in Richtung Panormos navigieren (durchgängige Schnellstrasse)
Eigenen Schärfer mitbringen, falls man etwas vernünftig schneiden möchte.
d) Es ist keine Espressomaschine vorhanden, not a big thing, aber hey ;)
ALLES GUT !
Das Haus ist wirklich sehr empfehlenswert.

Great time spent with the family in an excellent villa with plenty of "Mamma Mia" character
A charming villa with a pool overlooking the valley and mountains. All required facilities were provided including a generous welcome pack and the ongoing service by the Hatzidakis family was prompt and first rate. A quiet, rural and rustic location accessed by narrow and winding roads some 20 minutes from Perama so being prepared and confident enough to drive abroad is an important consideration. Perama has all you require and we would recommend the Carrefour supermarket, the butchers some 50m down the road and the patisserie close to the bridge. Recommended trips would be Panormos and its beach, (Bali was too crammed for us), Carob 'n' Olive restaurant and Olive Processing factory in Melidoni, Rethymnon and its old town area (Rimondi restaurant was great), Klados Winery, Samaria Gorge (Thursday evening = Cretan music & dancing) and Potamoi dam (including lakeside café for ice cream). Although we ventured out on many occasions we really enjoyed the villa, the pool and cooking our own food on the BBQ and in the pizza oven. Great time and wonderful memories.
