Come on "Down South"! Steps to ocean, gorgeous sunset views

Enjoy your morning coffee or beautiful evening sunsets on the large wrap around deck or screened in porch of this 3BR/2BA cottage. You will love the sound view and watching the boats come & go from the unobstructed view of the National Park Service Reserve while hearing the ocean sing. This cottage is fully stocked with kitchen necessities to cook any meal you desire. Cottage is in process of being updated. New roof, new windows, new flooring and freshly painted. Large yard, driveway & lots of space under cottage, including a special area for cleaning fish, located on a quiet street. New Basketball Goal.

AMENITIES INCLUDE:
Microwave, Dishwasher, Washer/Dryer, TV's in Family Room and all bedrooms; WI-FI, Ceiling Fans in all rooms, Books, Games, Deck Furniture for screened porch and outside deck. Sheets and towels are not provided.

Beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrella and beach toys for your convenience.

Located at Mile Post 21, a short walk to the beach. At the southern town line of S. Nags Head and then another 5 miles of natural beach to explore with large dunes and no houses ending at Oregon Inlet. A 1 mile drive south takes you to the Bodie Island Light House which you can climb to the top and have a view of the entire island or walk over to the sound for some back sound fishing. The Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is just 4 miles further south where you can charter a trip for yourself or see the afternoon catch from the charter boats. Heading the opposite way, is a short drive to the Nags Head Fishing Pier and Fish Heads Bar & Grille. A few miles further is great shopping and restaurants. A few miles further you can visit the Aquarium in Manteo or the Wright Brother's Memorial and Jockey's Ridge.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at “Down South”! The house was exactly as described and met our expectations. Centrally located on the islands allowed us to visit places north and south. The beach was just a short walk from the house. We saw a couple of coyotes out and about, so be careful when walking in the evening!

Always great

This property is our home away from home at the beach, always comfortable and relaxing. Probably the most well stocked kitchen we’ve seen of all the places we’ve ever stayed - we cooked all sorts of things during the week. Quiet neighborhood, but close to most everything. This time, we found Coquina Beach, about a three minute drive to the south on Rt. 12 - also pretty quiet. Laurie is a very responsive host and has always kept us informed about and during our stays.

Property was just as described. Great location. Property owner is quick to respond. Close to beach access and fishing access. It is warmer on the 2nd floor so I would recommend a portable a/c for the warmer months. Would definitely rent again.

Great Location in Outer Banks

Communication with owner before we arrived was easy and quick. Check-in was easy and we enjoyed the location which is a backyard and street away from the ocean. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and convenient to going either north or south on the Outer Banks. We enjoyed our time at "Down South". We did not realize we needed to bring our own sheets and towels. We stopped at a thrift store in Kitty Hawk on the way down and bought some. We left them behind in hopes that someone else will be able to use them in the future. Since we were flying from other locations and not coming from our home bringing sheets and towels was not possible. The thrift store seemed to be a good source for them.

Beach Week with Debbie

Despite Hurricane Debbie tagging along for most of our Nags Head vacation, we had a great stay at "Down South." Laurie was a fantastic host. Extremely helpful and thoughtful. The house and deck were actually more spacious than I was expecting, and easy to settle in to. Gorgeous views from the back deck, and as other visitors have mentioned, accessing the beach is really convenient. The beach itself seemed a little narrow on that part of the island, but I suspect the storm surge was a contributing factor. That said, Coquina Beach is just a 5 minute drive further south and definitely worth checking out. O'Neils Seafood on Wanchese is also worth a short excursion. Thanks for a great beach week Laurie!

Comfy beach house

We had a pleasant stay with an easy, short walk to the beach. There was salt and pepper, dishwasher pods, dish soap, kitchen sponges, and coffee filters available, which was nice. You need to remember toilet paper and paper towels. The listing might have mentioned all that, but I figured it out after we arrived . We would be happy to stay again. Thank you , Laurie!

This house has all the supplies you could want for a relaxing stay - - lots of kitchen supplies, games, puzzles, books, beach chairs & umbrella. It's a short walk to the beach, in a very quiet neighborhood, and backs to the marsh for a good view of the sunset.

Home away from home

This was our fourth stay at Down South. It’s always comfortable and relaxing, with lots of space in and out to cook, enjoy meals with family, read, play games and get some sun. The screen porch and deck are great, beach is a quick walk, neighborhood is quiet and stores and attractions are nearby. Couldn’t ask for more!
