Great Location

We go to Maui every year. This was a good condo and in a great location. Our only complaint was the upstairs mattress. Everything else was fantastic.

Family time

We had a wonderful week enjoying three generations of family (adults). We have been coming back to Kahana Sunset for 25 years now! We were so impressed when a local who lives in the neighborhood and was our guide on an outrigger trip, told us he would recommend to never go elsewhere, that Kahana Sunset was the perfect location. We agree! The unit was nice, but some of the furniture could use an update

We have stayed here many times at A3 and wanted a bit of an upgrade (air conditioning and better furniture, and the automatic sun screen). My one and only complaint is the main bedroom has a old bed. My wife and I had to sleep in the guest room as it was much more comfortable. Everything else was great!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a great place to stay if you’re staying in the West Maui area. The condo is updated and has an amazing view. The only suggestion I would recommend to management is to replace the mattress in the master bedroom, it has seen its better days. The 2 full size beds in the 2nd bedroom are very comfortable. The room has about everything you need to cook besides spices and oils. The resort maintenance crew also has all the beach stuff you need to borrow as well. They had plenty of sand toys, boogie boards and some beach chairs as well.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’ve been to Kahana Sunset multiple times but this was our first experience in the A Units. A4 is absolutely fantastic. The view is amazing and the setup is incredibly functional. Setting aside a couple minor issues with an A/C unit and the stove, this unit was amazing. Take all the snorkel trips you like to “see turtles” but you will never see more than directly below this unit. Are you looking to go to Hawaii and do nothing but be in the water and make some incredible meals, this is your stop.

There’s no better place to stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Kahana Sunset is the absolute best complex on West Maui. You end up paying for excursions and wishing you’d kept your money because everything extra you paid for is already at the condo. Great snorkeling? Check. Sea turtles every day? Yup. Magical sunsets each evening? You know it. The only issue we’ve had with our specific unit was the downstairs AC. Management requested a repair man for the next day but he never came. To be fair though, everyone was evacuated the day before for a tsunami so I’m not holding that against them.

The views from the condo are breathtaking— sitting on our balcony and watching sunrises , sunsets and whales — and just a few steps away snorkeling with sea turtles on a small, private like beach. Our family of 5 (including 3 teen boys) were comfortable in the condo - great kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. Kahana Sunset is a very special place and we feel so fortunate to have been a guest here.

Check out this welcome to Kahana Sunset

We arrived to our condo after 9pm. I literally walked into the condo, into the kitchen, set my wallet and keys on the counter and just to my right, was a huge bleeping cockroach walking across the countertop. I am from Colorado and live currently. I grew up in Michigan, and this is the first time ever seeing a cockroach. I called the management and he said it must have been on its last legs if it was alive! Yuck, gross and gag! I was freaking out and my daughter was even more upset. My husband never freaks out and it took him a little while to kill it! Bedrooms were upstairs but my 12 year old was to sleep on the sofa bed. Well, no more! My husband slept on the sofa bed that night. I was so unhappy and that means we were unhappy. I checked everything. I was a teeny bit relieved when I did not see any bed bugs. I realized we were stuck. Right inside the welcome book talks about the roaches and how they are common. That did not help. We have stayed in Ma'alea and every time we have come previously we have never had these issues before. Sullivan did come out the next day and did a cursory can spray (cockroach and ant killer from the grocery store). I was not happy, nor would I be! The following day I had an exterminator come in to spray and lay traps. I've never before or will ever since, go through the uncomfortability of my entire vacation again. And guess what, these things fly! FLY!!! Beware.

Great Unit But No Beach Any Longer at Kahana Sunset

There was no beach at all and that was a huge disappointment for us, because the pictures (and visits to the location in the past) led us to believe there was a beach to enjoy on sight. There was no beach at all. This takes it from a 5 star rating to a 2.5 star rating for me and my family.

Unobstruced views of Molokai and the beautiful blue ocean. The unit is updated, comfortable, exctremely clean and includes everything you would need to have a wonderful carefree vacation. We loved it so much, we are already booked for A4 for next year! Kahana Sunset is what Aloha is all about!
