The apartment was tired but clean. A little disappointing when we first arrived but then you settle in and forget the little things It was only an 8 mins walk from Crown Heights - Utica subway which gave easy access to Manhattan. There were plenty of food stores nearby to set us up for the day Plenty of pots and pans for cooking but limited on cups/mugs and the table is small especially when you could sleep 11.The same could be said for the lounge, you can sit 5 young kids but not much more.That said, we only used it as a base. So can only comment as such.Overall, a 4 star

Host was super responsive, if I had a question he responded within minutes. Read all the reviews as they are accurate. Not super cozy if you plan on hanging there for long periods of time but it worked fine for us. If your VRBO can sleep 12, then it should be able to seat 12 as well as have enough mugs, plates, etc. The place is in need of serious updates: paint chipped everywhere, mold in the bathroom on the ceiling, no decor, etc. Go to the subway entrance on the Schenecady side (other side on Utica was kinda sketchy at night).

Hôte très réactif et sympathique.Equupements un peu léger pour se préparer à manger à la maison. Pas assez de chaises pour 10Personnes. Matelas d’une chambre sale, chaise et sommier cassée, porte restée bloquée. Malgré tout ces petites choses, logement très bien situé, petites supérettes à proximité, 5’ à pied de 2 lignes de métro qui amènent à Manhattan. Largement suffisant pour le temps qu’on y passe quand on vient en vacances à NYC

Great host communication. Considering the amount of guests it can accommodate, it was under stocked. We needed to buy additional toilet paper and paper towels. The pillows and towels were very thin. Also, not enough seating for all guests even with the kitchen table chairs. Bedrooms were spacious and house location was accessible to a nearby subway. Worked well for our large group.

Located in a Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. This place is old and worn, but clean, with minimal furnishings. 10 people were going to stay here together, but the first group of five found it objectionable and decided to not stay. Their objections included the trash in front of the building, mildew smell in the small bathroom and odors including weed when they arrived, so they went elsewhere. The second group of five arrived and did not smell objectional odors and decided to stay, lucky to have an affordable place to be in Brooklyn. Plenty of room for the five of us. We mostly just used it for sleeping and showering. It is in a Jewish/Jamaican neighborhood. Sukkot was being celebrated the week we were there so joyous talk and singing in the night til 2, 3, even 4 a.m. in the morning. Blackout curtains would be a good addition to have in the back bedrooms because there was a bright outside light that was on most of the night. Did not cook, only ate light breakfast using the microwave. More bowls are needed as there were only five. Hooks or a place to hang towels would also be good. The people we met in the area were friendly and welcoming. It is just a few blocks walk to Utica station where you can take the subway or catch a bus nearby to almost anywhere you need to go. Do not stay here if you are expecting luxurious accommodations. Do stay if you can appreciate a humble local and cultural experience.

The property was OK for what we required, however we did have 1 bedroom (small one) which the lights didn't work and the property could do with an additional sofa in the living room as there wasn't enough space for everyone to sit.The property could also do with a bit of decoration.

The address in the listing is not accurate at all. It was a 30-minute walk to the actual address, which was disappointing, as we picked this space due to the location. Plenty of space and beds for our group of 7, we could have easily fit 4-5 more folks comfortably in the space! Very bare bones but beds were comfy. Would certainly consider staying again.

The property does not match the photos. The apartment needs a great deal of deep cleaning, wall repair, paint and overall care. Linens without holes and newer towels would help make up for the disrepair and inattention to maintenance. The kitchen is not well equipped (as the description states), The refrigerator is not attached to the water line, there are no ice trays, and thus no ice. The only kitchen item provided that we might have purchased was coffee filters. I suspect they were left by prior guests. No salt, no sugar. We bought both and left them there.The property is clearly a cash cow. It’s convenient to the subway, but we would not stay there again.

Our family had a great time together in this large upper apartment.The host was very responsive to questions. The apartment was close to a bodega for some quick snacks. We had access to a great patio space for a family BBQ. The living room furniture needs to be updated.

It will do!

We stayed 5 nights and spent most days in the city- we really only ate breakfast each day- but the 2 pans are very very old and not easy to use and clean. There is nothing to help with cooking- like there are No condiments, no sugar, no salt and pepper. There was no ice - as it is not connected to the frog- we had to buy it. There were no paper towels. The toaster is broken as it only toasts one side at a time. Coffee pot was great but old, luckily there were filters. The kitchen is nice enough but the utensils and cookware is very old and sparse. The bathrooms are nice and made for very tall people- we ran out of toilet paper on the last day. Over all the place is located in a great area, very close to subway!!! And it was a nice family vacation. For a place that sleeps so many there is very limited seating both at a table and in the living room.

OK place, inaccurate listing

I have a family of five - two teens and a baby, along with my husband and I. We spent a week in NYC for a wedding and were looking for a place with enough space for all of us and somewhat affordable- slim pickings in New York. The place was true to size, clean and had room for all of us. But, the listing was misleading. The place needs updating as the paint on the walls and ceiling are falling off - a big chunk fell onto the sofa while we were there. When communicating with the owner, I was told the property was on Carroll street, just off Prospect Park. But, the actual property is on Carroll but off Uticia - about 1.8 miles from Prospect Park and a less gentrified neighborhood. It made moving around more challenging logistically with a baby and fewer amenities were available and we were more cautious walking around at night. Finally, the electricity cut out in the place half a dozen times. The property manager was very responsive and communicative and did get an electrician out quickly. Unfortunately, with the heat wave in NYC and temps over 100, it was uncomfortable at times. Once it was fixed, Con Edison decided to cut the power to the neighborhood (not the owner's fault), for a night - which also wasn't fun due to strains on the grid. Overall we had a good time in NYC and given the price point this place is probably a good value for money, but I feel the listing should be more transparent about the location and the condition of the unit.

Comfortable and Roomy

Our family had plenty of room to spread out in this spacious apartment. We even found on street parking without much trouble at all. Our host was very helpful with our questions. Our only issue was that the location shown on VRBO was not the location we were sent to, and that was disappointing. Very comfortable accommodation, though, and worked out well for us.

Great Place

Great place, tons of room, two washrooms is great for large groups, good location, good kitchen, comfortable beds. Only drawback is it would be great to get another couch or two in the common room.

A good spot in Crown Heights.

The location and size are the best things of the home. The subway is a few blocks away and for a group of 6 there was no lack of space. There is a good bagel place a few blocks away and coffee across the street. The furniture could use some updating because the couch at the home was not the couch in the photo. An extra sofa chair or love seat would’ve been nice for the large group. There were plenty of extra linens and the kitchen has the basic supplies. The host was responsive to my questions too.

Pictures were not an accurate portrayal of the property

I was rather disappointed in this property. The location was fine with easy access to the subway. There was ample room for the 3 of us and it was clean, but sadly the place was in need of refurbishment. Paint was chipping all over the walls, giving it a very shabby appearance. The toilet seat was not well attached in one of the bathrooms. The faucet in the main shower almost fell off. The kitchen was only minimally equipped with pots and pans. There wasn't even a cookie sheet to reheat pizza. The ice maker on the refrigerator wasn't even hooked up. We all felt it was definitely in need of an update.

Beautiful light-filled home in vibrant Brooklyn

From start to finish we had an excellent one-month stay in this beautiful expansive home. The owner was prompt and professional with all of our questions and requests and went out of the way to ensure our comfort. The home itself was immaculately handed over to us, stocked with linens, towels and kitchen materials. It is an older property, but does not lack in cleanliness and all appliances and bathrooms were in perfect order. We cooked many meals in the large kitchen and a large group of 7 people slept comfortably and felt right at home here. The neighborhood is vibrant with coffee shops, grocery stores and easy access to subway with kind neighbors and easy parking on this residential street. Hope we can stay there again!
