Welcome drinks gives a good first impression. Although no air conditioning, hotel offers fan for ventilation and that's okay for night temperture of below 20 degrees. Location close to city centre with lots of pubs and restaurants around.

Nice hotel for me
although the room service was great but the room facilities was bad, my room lights were broken and cannot be turn on. and toilet door cannot be fully closed, there is still have some space you see through to inside. Other than that every thing was good, specially good room service. Nice location.

Sandman hotel service not four stars!!
當天我們入住,我以重複說明了我已經付了款項,但酒店接待處那位員工,堅持說要再次收多一次,而且並顯出不禮貌,最後我查明事實是我已經付款了,酒店亦和我道歉,但他度但酒店道歉的方式給予的offer也不是很滿意,因為幾天後我會回newcastle , sandman hotel說免費幫我升級是大房間,但我也不再選擇入住這間了; 整體上酒店地點很好,但酒店的服務態度真的很差。我認為需要評論讓別人知道這次的體驗;另外,我入住了兩晚,二天可以完全沒有人幫你打理房間,我也影了照片,我沒有想過會這樣。這次的入住真的非常差! Ok the day I checked in and I explained that I had already paid the money, but the hotel reception staff said that I had to paid it again, and she is rude, My local friend and my husband also there listening the staff is very not polite. Finally, I found out that I had already paid, and the hotel send me email and apologize to me, but still not very satisfied with the offer of the hotel's apology, because I will return to newcastle a few days later, sandman hotel said that it is a big room for me to upgrade for free, but I will not choose to stay in this hotel again. Overall , the hotel location is very good, but the service attitude of the hotel is really bad. I think I need to comment to let others know about this experience; I have been to different hotels and been to many countries, This hotel is four stars and the reviews are very good, so I choose to stay, but in fact the hotel service is really not good enough. In addition to this accident, I stayed for two nights, two days, no one to help you clean up the room, I also took pictures, will complain to the hotel too, Sandman hotel, really not good enough the service and the staff, but the location is goo

Toilet supplies not refilled timely and completely. Slow or weak WIFI. Very noisy at night as the room was on the 2nd floor facing the main street. Yet the hotel location was very convenient and the staff were quite nice.

Room amenities were awful - toilet holder hanging off wall, as well as shelf above toilet. Shower leaked turning the bathroom into a swamp. No toilet roll, and they don’t clean your room if you’re staying for more than one night. Noisy, loud corridors with drunks banging on doors through weekend stay.

Nice hotel but let down by no housekeeping or tea and coffee replenishment unless requested by midday, nobody told us this at check in and so was very unimpressed to go back to room in the evening to unmade bed, wet towels and no tea and coffee.

On checking in we were informed that the Shark bar was closed. which is inside the hotel .and then told restaurant was also closed.if we had known we would have gone elsewhere as there was no facilities to use in the hotel.breakfast was served in the restaurant area.there was no knifes and forks left no glasses for drinks.certain foods had run out. there was only one yong girl at the resturant entrance which she couldnt really leave her post to help anyone requiring anything.so a bit of a let down this time .the whole experiance really

Sound proofing of the room was abysmal. On the 6th floor and could hear every noise from the outside, including the ambulance sirens from the nearby hospital, regularly through the night. The hotel room was directly outside the lift, which had the loudest automated announcer I've ever heard. The bed was uncomfortable. The restaurant was closed, not told in advance and was a big party of the selection.

Outdated and disappointing
In desperate need of renovation. The room looked frozen in time for the last 30 years with no upkeep. Window was stuck open in winter, bulbs were out, stains on a towel and marks on most walls. We sat down for breakfast and walked straight back out. The tables were dirty, food was grim process junk, nothing remotely fresh.

However, the bathroom was dirty with hairs left in the shower and the room was freezing and I had to contact reception late in the night to put the heating on. Some confusing information about parking as it was off -site in a multi-story car park and cost an extra £15.00 which was not indicated in the original price.

Good service but cold room
The staff was very helpful. Any questions i had regarding the hotel, the city, or food they were able to answer me. The only real problem is i had no real control over the heat. It stayed on maybe 10 minutes before shutting off and i had to keep pressing the start button to get it back on. The front desk was informed and tried to help but the room remained too cool during this winter time.

When we arrived at our room the door was unlocked and the tv was on so we tried to call reception from the room phone to let them know but the phone didn’t work. The cleanliness of the room was poor, there were hairs on the bed (human and animal) the kitchen work tops and bathroom work tops were dirty. Stains on the walls and fixtures all round just grubby. The pull out bed was not suitable for an adult to sleep on at all so 3 of us slept in the main bed, the bed it’s self was comfy and big but not great having 3 adults having to sleep in it. The coffee machine in reception was the best part (the hot chocolate was amazing) The room has everything you need but it’s the cleanliness that lets it down which is a shame because it has so much potential but I would not class it as a 4 star hotel. 12 o’clock check out would be great instead of 11am, there are a lot of cheaper hotels that are cleaner and have a 12pm check out.

Great location and staff were friendly. However, value for money for quality and functionality of room was disappointing. Sliding glass doors for bathroom gave no privacy, sofa bed was very uncomfortable and tiny (shouldn’t count as a bed when we paid for three), window couldn’t open, shower and radiator temperature controls didn’t work. Disappointed by quality and photos were misleading. Would choose a different hotel next time.

Upon checking in the hotel did not believe that I had already paid, despite showing an itinerary with my credit card details on, they continued to request bank statements showing proof of payment. In terms of the room, it was very cold during the night and is heated by an old style plug in wall heater. The room was not adequately cleaned and dust could be found throughout. The location is central, however I cannot give this review any more than one star based on my stay.
