Herrington Country Park near Sunderland in the north east of England is aa area that was once a coal mine but has now been transformed into a well used park by locals and visitors to the city of Sunderland. its large grassed areas are regularly used for large and small events like pop concerts and dog walking events. With loads of photographic opportunities its a great place to spend a few hours.

Top point in Herrington Country Park. The topmost point in the country park (80m?) is marked by a sculpture meant to symbolise a fortress with defenders (??). Good views from there though.

Pond in Herrington Country Park. The main pond in the country park is designated as a boating lake. The jetty shown in the middle of the picture is where model boats are launched. It's also regularly used for feeding the waterfowl.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant was really good. Room too warm for us personally even with window open. Bathroom fixtures (bath/shower fittings) could do with being updated/modernised. Overall pleasant stay.

Love to stay at the Maldron when in Belfast, its very central to everything and an easy 5 minute walk from the Metro station (Monument). Its very clean and comfortable and has a great bar and lobby area for relaxing.
