Great property

Very relaxing property. Our dog (and us) loved the pond. We saw many deer in the mornings. The road to get to the property was not at all daunting with our AWD Subaru.

Relaxing Getaway

My best friend and I decided to take a quick girls trip and it was one of the best ones we have taken. Peaceful seclusion and just the two of us was all we wanted and that’s exactly what we got. We will definitely book again and highly recommend for anyone wanting to get away from it all!

July get away

Very private and quite. Just what i needed. We enjoied exploring the history of the area from Elk Park to linville falls,especilly Crosnore I would recommend this property to those wanting a secluded get away. Owner is easy to communicate with and over all a very nice rental

Little Getaway

An ideal private retreat

The peace and solitude of this homestead were exactly what I needed. The dated decor was surprising, but the view from the porch, wonderful hot tub, access to the pond and land, and privacy were absolutely amazing. And that hill up the mountain was no joke! Thank you for a great getaway.

Heaven

This is my favorite mountain retreat we’ve stayed at yet. It is isolated, quiet, beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The water is good, the couches are comfortable, and it is heaven. We arrived during a rain storm, and the approach was a little intimidating, but four wheel drive took care of it just fine. The hiking trails are beautiful and make for the best day. Thanks!

Mountain getaway

Originally we went up to the mountains to play in the snow, ended up not snowing. We still went over to Beech Mountain to sled one day, only like a 30 min drive. Cabin was great, definitely listen to the owner, you will want 4x4. I never used mine but I also drive a lifted truck. Cabin was great nice to get away from the world for a weekend.

Fairly secluded, quaint location for a weekend!

As per the owners instructions, a 4WD is useful on making the climb to the property. Instructions are on point. House itself is clean and warm and welcoming. As others have advised, not as private as you may think though as three four wheelers came screaming within ten feet of the front porch Saturday afternoon toting a barking dog along and screaming. Another thing to note is that they currently have a rodent issue, which I believe they’re trying to resolve. All in all, we would go back again for the location, just not expect as much privacy and ask about the rodent problem beforehand.

Absolutely Charming Retreat

We absolutely loved our stay here! It is a very secluded and peaceful location but still close enough to vineyards and the charming town of Banner Elk. We were looking for an escape from the heat and found it. The cabin itself was well equipped and we found ourselves loving the seasoned cast iron pan. The whole experience was amazing. We brought two small dogs who enjoyed playing and running around the property. We roasted hotdogs over the fire pit for lunch. The boat was relaxing and we even saw a few water friends on our outing. We saw deer, rabbits, birds and a very friendly frog who hung out with us on the porch. The cabin even had a DVD player and Direct TV, we also completed one of the puzzles we found. The hot tub was perfect and we loved relaxing in it after playing on the grounds all day. The wild flowers were plentiful and made for a beautiful scene. The whole trip was better than expected and we will be back soon. We only live an hour from the property and are already planning our next getaway, this time with friends. I would 100% recommend this rental, you will not be disappointed. This would be gorgeous any season.

Mountain retreat

Great place to relax, very quiet and private. Drive up is a little challenging but we had no trouble. I have stayed there several times over the past few years. Close to Linville and Grandfather Mountain.

Quick mountain trip

Some people love the place based on the number of positive reviews, but we didn’t have a good experience. As other guests have said, the road to the cabin is steep. It was also snowy and icy in places from the weather that came through the previous week. We drove up after dark which made it a little more challenging. It’s an old farm house and the temperature inside was in the 30’s when we arrived. The baseboard heaters did little to heat up the place. I’m wondering if the propane was out because the stove didn’t work either. There was a fire place and a few pieces of wood, but we couldn’t find supplies to start the fire.Long story short We left the first night and ended up staying elsewhere. I’m sure the property has a lot to offer when you can get out and explore, but this isn’t a place that I would rent again in the winter months. We have been renting VRBO places for 20 years. I can normally get a good idea about a place from reading reviews and looking at pictures. I missed the mark on this one.

Secluded cabin

It was nice, the drive was definitely nerve wracking on wet roads but my AWD had no trouble making it up there. It was smaller than expected but served is purpose. The beds were SO comfortable but we couldn't get the TV or fireplace to work. The house ladbugs were our favorite! We cooked, sorry and left.

We came up for a late anniversary celebration. The property is on a mountain. With front-wheel drive you would not have any issues driving up. The property is beautiful, lots of space, lovely apple trees, pond was nice to fish from. We sat outside every morning with our coffee. Our inside dog loved sitting on the porch all day.

Weekend Mountain Getaway

We had a great time at the cabin over this past weekend. Very secluded location but close by to many attractions for hiking. The road is very steep so heed the warning about 4WD or AWD. The directions provided were spot on. The surrounding property was gorgeous with many wildflowers, wild life & so many apple trees. The hot tub was relaxing & porch was great for our morning coffee. The cabin was appointed with all of the cooking gear we needed to prepare meal. One word of warning is there is no air conditioning but thankfully it was a fairly cool weekend. Amazing stay overall!

Magical getaway!

This place was absolutely amazing! My husband, 2 kids and myself loved everything about it and were definitely sad to leave. We hiked all around the property, caught fish and rowed around the pond, picked blueberries, blackberries and apples. We saw deer everyday, along with a couple bunnies, groundhogs, lightning bugs and hummingbirds. We made s'mores at the fire pit and the hot tub was fun and relaxing. It was a magical place that we'll definitely have to come back to!

The property itself and check on process was wonderful. Although the rules and guidelines were not specific on what we could and couldn’t do. We were charged for using firewood for the fire pit but were no instructions saying other wise. Charged extra for dishes in the sink ( thought that’s what the cleaning fee was for) the owners had lots of complaints and extra which was unfortunate.
