Charming Carriage House in Niagara's Wine Country
A converted carriage house and former blacksmith shop with a rich history dating back to the 1800’s - fully updated with modern amenities and a splendid garden. This is a one level plus loft bedroom, ideal for those who have challenges with stairs. Centrally located near the Falls, Niagara Parkway, Niagara-on-the-Lake, casinos, wineries and the largest outlet mall in Canada. A great gathering spot in any season with a full kitchen, laundry and outdoor space ready to entertain family and friends.
This updated and fully appointed space abounds with character and was originally used as a carriage house for the owner's horse and carriage. In the late 1800's it was converted into a blacksmith shop by the Swedish born Otto Lofgren who also ran the forge down the road at the Queenston Quarry. Relics from his days of black-smithing have been found on the premises and the stone carriage stair out front bares his family name.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: this property being located on an historic crossroads has become a major entry point into Niagara. As a result, street traffic can often be very busy during the day but quiets down significantly at night.

The Carriage house was a lovely place to stay for the holidays. Darren and Lori had put up a tree and decorated. The good kitchen made preparing Christmas dinner easy. We had a very festive Christmas away from home!

Quite little retreat
Very nice place to stay. Loved the back yard, close to all attractions that niagara has to offer.Only flaw we had was the shower pressure which was really low but manageable. We would stay here again.

Relaxing Get Away
This was the most relaxing cozy home I have stayed in. They were such great hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The house was so clean and had everything stocked that you would ever need. Great location only minutes from all the attractions. Would love to stay again. Don't hesitate just book it and you won't regret it. Wish we didn't have to leave.

Cozy Christmas Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Although a mini staycation from home before the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we truly felt like we were on a Christmas vacation you only see in the movies. The space was open and inviting, decorated in a pleasant, welcoming way. We would love to book again, maybe in the summer to be able to enjoy the entire property!

Really cool historic cute house in niagra
The house was very clean cozy and nice, the host communicated very well with me how everything worked out and when i had a question, would stay here again . Loved it . So cozy and had everything we needed the pictures do some pretty good justice the house is great. Book it you will love it

Weekend trip
Our stay was wonderful! We tried all of the food recommendations by the host and they were all great! Communication was quick and helpful when we had questions. The property is exactly as described in the review. Wish we could have used the back yard to hang out in but we were so busy on our long weekend in Niagara that we didn’t have time. The property was very close to all the things we wanted to do. We even were close enough to come and let the dog out from time to time and take her on walks. We would highly recommend. We had a great first trip to Canada!

A Gem of a Spot in Niagara Falls
Our family was very pleased with our stay at the Halfway Carriage House last month. The cottage is convienently located about 7 mins away from the tourist district along the Niagara River Parkway. This is just far enough away to afford a respite from the crowds and traffic. The cottage is tastefully decorated and includes a thoughtful assortment of home goods, furnishings, and kitchen tools. Speaking of the kitchen, it is well designed and offers plenty of counter space for meal prep along with a large farmer's table. The entire property is impeccably clean and well maintained, including the terraced back yard. If you're looking for a practical and stylish retreat in Niagara away from the crowds, then the Halfway Carriage House is for you!

A charming cottage retreat
Our stay was amazing. First, the pics of the cottage do not do it justice. The cottage was amazing, clean, charming and so comfy. It is very close to all the attractions. Just a few minute drive to the falls and Skylon Tower. We also drove to the Inniskillin Winery at Niagara On The Lake which was only about 20 minute drive. We had the most amazing holiday and would definitely recommend everyone to stay at this wonderful cottage.

Lori and Darren were super accommodating and the property itself was beautiful. It’s very close to a lot of the Niagara tourist places, having anywhere be a short drive to get to. We went for a girls trip and the area felt really safe and the cottage was so cute that we took so many pictures. Will definitely book again!

Interesting history, beautiful stay
This property is beautiful and we loved learning the history from Darren when we first arrived. We had everything that we needed and even a bit extra with the Keurig and supplies. The location was perfect for us and it was easy to get everywhere we needed to go.

Great Carriage House
Darren and Lori were marvelous hosts. They answered all of our questions promptly and Darren greeted us upon arrival! The space was beautiful and had everything that we needed. The house was very near all that we wanted to see and do. It was located on a heavily traveled road and there was quite a bit of noise. The backyard space is a work in progress and will no doubt be super upon completion. We had a great time!

Carriage House - Niagara Wine Country
The Carriage House was a dream come true. Beautifully appointed, extremely clean, well stocked with everything we needed and perfectly located for day trips around Ontario and into NY. The outside property is beautifully landscaped as well. Our hosts were awesome and provided recommendations for everything from places to eat to pet sitting services. A definite WIN!

Carriage house is charming & VERY clean. Darren (Owner) met us when we arrived. He showed us around the property, told us of nice restaurants around. It is on a busy street but it quietens down at night. We were allowed to sit by the fireplace of the (his) house next door because no one was there. We would go back there again. Thanks Darren & Margaret - wonderful lady who takes care of the property.

Great Stay in Niagara Falls
The Carriage House is everything it appears to be online, if not better. The hosts, Darren and Lori, were most welcoming, and met us upon arrival with a great introduction to the house and the area. The extremely well-provisioned and beautifully designed home met all of our needs as a couple (plus our dog) throughout our three-night stay. Though near the road, noise was not an issue during our November stay. It provides an ideal base for exploring the region, close to many activities and attractions, including the Falls, numerous vineyards and restaurants, and various Lake Erie and Lake Ontario historical sites and towns. We would highly recommend it.

The cottage was great, and was very close to the activities we wanted to do.
