The hostel is in a great location, the room with 6 beds are ok, ideal for a solo traveler, good price for the location so you have to learn to compromise

The rooms are old, and definitely have mould in them.
Good location
The location was great, a block and across from the train station and just off of the main road through the shopping centers. Check-in was a little difficult because you have to have two different access codes to get through the doors and up to the second floor where the hostel is. I wish the bunk beds had curtains for privacy, but the bedding was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. It was a very quiet location overall and included lockers (though not large enough to fit a carry-on bag).

A decent hostel for the price l paid. Very convenient location for transport links, trains buses and trams. Stayed in female 6 bed dorm but never full. Shower and toilet in room was good. Kitchen was small but manageable but might struggle when hostel full. Nice seating area outside and use if a washing line too.
Staff very helpful and friendly and communication good. If it could be a bit cleaner it would be a big improvement but despite this l would definitely stay again

Could have been worse?
No bed bugs in room 8, I think at least. It wasn't really clean and the beds were squeaky. The staff however was so friendly and helpful. Poor ventilation in the rooms. It was like a sauna in the morning. I think ut would probably be good for a night or two (I stayed for 5 nights).
Excellent location. Easy walk to Nice-Ville Station. McDonald's and supermarkets barely a few hundred metres. Room 17 very quiet. Pleasantly surprise that shared bathroom only meant shared toilet as I had my own shower.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
It’s in a good location near the train station and walkable to the old town and beach. The staff were friendly and helpful and there are kitchen facilities to cook your own food.
The bathroom needs work - door didn’t close properly, shower didn’t drain well and you had to hold it as the was no bracket on the wall.
Arrived at 23:30. I’ve got my room- & bednumber.
In the allocated room all beds were used. Reception needed a lot of time to find an other room to for me.
Stuff was very friendly.
I'm really glad I didn't mind some reviews that I read saying bad things about Hostel Pastoral 'cause it was one of the best hostels I've been in.
The location is perfect, near the station, restaurants, markets and a perfect walking distance to the beach and the main touristic atractions.
The staff is SUPER friendly, all of them are nice but I must say thatTom is simply the greatest guy I'll find, you can ask him advice for places to visit, beer or anything else.
They clean everyday and you can see that - if something is not clean is because of the guests that sometimes completly ignore the simple rules that you have to make the place comfortable for everyone.
I highly recommend Pastoral Hostel in Nice!

There were shops and stores nearby.
Inconvenient because no shampoo or shower gel in the
bathroom.
Internet did not work. Very inconvenient.

OK option next to railway station
Very basic hostel, but in a good location: just 5 minute walk from the railway station of Nice. A bit old though, building and facilities would benefit from some renovation/fixing. Room with a shower didn´t include towels (luckily one can rent one from the reception), and the shower was rather old and seemed a bit unhygienic. Reception/staff was friendly and helpful, and we could also leave our luggage at the hostel for a day free of charge. All in all: if you just need a well-priced overnight place to stay for a night close to the station and city center (and don´t require any extra), this might be an ok option.
Place is clean and location is ok, but condition is poor. Many things are broken: micro wave oven, electrical socket, shower door lock, toilet door handle etc. One staff member was kind and friendly, but the other was rude and arrogant. Many things are broken, and you think this place is half hostel half joke, but the rude staff member takes it very seriously. Don’t leave your back-bag in the room after check-out even for a short time. The room door might open, but wait until personnel can take your bag to reception. Despite broken things check-out is a formal and stiff protocol. A failure to comply may lead to semi-hysterical response ;D
Learned never to choose the cheapest option again!
We did not expect much as we chose this place mainly due to its price. Still, we were very disappointed. We had a private room with a double bed and a private bathroom, but that did not help on the cleanliness of the place. The bathroom was clearly not washed properly (stains all over the place) and it smelled like smoke. Furthermore, the bedding was full of rips and tears and holes. It was so bad that we chose to rather not use the duvet and freeze during the nights. The only positive thing about the room was that it was so nasty that we spent next to no time in the hotel and rather spent it all exploring Nice.
Looking past the horrible room, a positive thing about the hotel is that it is fairly closely located to both the train station and the city centre. In addition, the people working there seemed nice.
We arrived at night, the property appeared abandoned from the street. After some time of searching we found a keypad with an intercom button, someone answered and let us in. We entered a dark lobby with stairs and elevator, no lights, upstairs we found a hole in the wall where the reception was, young man spoke English but was new and didn’t know about the offsite parking that was advertised at 10€ per day on the website, he contacted manager who sent address, we moved our car there and there were no signs for 10€ we parked there anyway which would’ve cost 26€ for the time needed (12hrs) we went back to the hotel and spoke to a new man ?manager who didn’t have good English and kept saying he didn’t know about the offsite parking- so I believe this was false advertising. The room itself was large, old style bed and bedding provided. No towels or toiletries provided. Rooms seemed clean enough for the night but glad we were only there for the one night- the surrounding area felt unsafe at night.
