Gorgeous property!

The house and its location is top notch all around. The beach is gorgeous and we had it all to ourselves most of the time. The house is close to Governor’s Harbor and the center of the island which makes it easy to do excursions at the North end or the South end of the island. We enjoyed every second of our vacation here. Highly recommend this house!

Great Vacation House

House is very nice - also quite remote feeling but not far from restaurants and Governor’s Harbor. The beach is beautiful! Tenielle was a wonderful host! The only thing that could use repair is the long driveway. However, it is like many driveways on Eleuthera so I think you just have to expect it (but don’t be surprised as it’s quite a bumpy road).

Magical First Trip to Eleuthera

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our two week visit to Tourmaline exceeded expectations. The house is lovely, and perfect for our first week with our son, daughter in law, and grandchildren aged 5 and 3. And not too big for just the two of us during our second week. We loved it so much we tried to add a third week, either at Tourmaline or next door at Dream House, to no avail. So we booked next year for three weeks. Walking on the beach is gorgeous. When the wind calmed down, we enjoyed snorkeling off the beach in front of the house. Easy walk east to La Bouganvillia for drinks and lunch. We took several day trips to explore the area. Tippy’s is great for lunch & dinner. The real find is Eleuthra Island Store, great produce and baked goods on Tuesdays and Fridays. Cinnamon rolls are amazing! Can’t waitTo go back.

Not worth the $

We stayed at the house next door a couple years ago and decided to try this one because it was being renovated and had a bigger pool. The pool was really the best part of the property. The house itself needs help. Bugs indoors everywhere. Alive on the ceiling, dead in the floor. Crawling on you at night. And no, we did not leave doors and windows open. Good luck in the kitchen. Very basic items but the rest is a mix and match hodge podge. It needs going through badly. It’s mostly junk. Dishwasher doesn’t clean the dishes. Top rack does not come out. Kitchen chairs are worn out and rickety. Same with bedside tables. Washing machine is outside and smells - front load that never has been aired out. Living room furniture is very old and it shows. For the money you get a nice pool that is a quick 30 second walk from the house and decent views but not as good as the house next door. Glass vs concrete on the deck and better trimming of landscape. Property managers were great as always. Pam and Tenille are always there for you. For the price point however, this house seriously misses the mark.

Tourmaline - beautiful getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed for 2 weeks at the beginning of December 2023. This is a very clean and exceptionally private property. You can leave the windows open at night and listen to the waves crashing against the shore. The grounds keeper and pool cleaners came a couple of times a week - they honk the car horn before walking around to do their tasks. The weather was a bit inclement (rain and high winds) making the beach unusable, but when the weather was good - the sand is powdery soft with pink visible in the grains. There are reefs "bommies" offshore which are about 8-15ft in depth. Lots of fish including barracuda and stingrays (and some very elusive lobster). The internet worked intermittently, moving the router (it uses LTE from a cell provider) to the upstairs master bedroom improved reception. On the days with bad weather, the WIFI was unstable - and the power went out multiple times (but only for a couple of minutes max). As a backup - use your cell phone for internet, which worked flawlessly. Bring along a couple of headlamps (and maybe a string of LED lights) for the pool area. It is dark there at night, and the bar-b-que is there. There are no overhead lights at the pool (other than the lights in the pool and some limited landscape lights). Beware of the bugs. No-see-ums were horrible, not just at the property but all over the island. We used repellent yet still wound up with hundreds of itchy welts. Take Benadryl tablets and spray, and repellent with at least 40% deet. The wind will keep them down a bit, but anywhere there is shelter the bugs will get you. Also be aware that Governor's Harbour airport security (when leaving) will confiscate all your unused aerosol cans. We lost 6 new cans of Coppertone, plus deodorant and insect repellent. I suspected this was a scam - we went through security in Nassau and there was no problem. If your aerosol cans have the "explosive" or "flammable" WHIMIS labels (they all do), don't expect to leave Eleuthera with them.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Just returned from a week-long stay at Tourmaline, nestled just between North Palmetto Point and Governor's Harbour. The ocean/beach views from the house are breathtaking, the pool an excellent addition, and the location convenient for exploring the whole of Eleuthera. As return guests to the island we were accustomed to low water pressure and routine power outages (the house has a nice Generac standby generator), but would recommend the owners have the overall plumbing of the house serviced for water flow/flushing pressure and shower drain buildups/odors. This was only a minor issue and one that can be expected in Eleuthera. That said, it would not prevent me from recommending this property to future guests. Eleuthera is a destination that makes you work a little bit and accept that you probably will not have the exact same amenities that you would in the US. But it is a place defined by its natural beauty and vibrant culture, which is why I keep returning with my family. Book with confidence that Tourmaline will meet all your true needs for an excellent stay in Eleuthera.

Pam at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals was extremely helpful during the booking process. They provided very helpful information prior to arrival to keep guests informed. Tennielle, the local property manager, is so very helpful! Can’t stress enough how valuable it is to have someone close by if you have questions or need any assistance. She dropped off delicious lasagna on arrival which is so nice to have on night one. The house is clean, updated, and comfortable. Everything you need is there. Towels (bath & beach), beach chairs, cooler and starter kitchen/bath supplies. The kitchen is well stocked. The covered porch with ocean view is nice for meal times or just enjoying the view. Having onsite laundry comes in handy. The location is convenient to Governor’s Harbour and grocery stores and restaurants. The beach is so quiet and private, many days we were the only ones there. The walk down to the beach from the house is quite steep so if you have mobility issues, please keep that in mind. We would highly recommend this house and will be back ourselves!

House was clean and well appointed and when, the most difficult decision you make each day is beach or pool, life is good. First time booking through Eleuthera Vacation Rentals and couldn’t have been more pleased with the responsiveness and service both before and during trip. Pam was great before and Tennielle quickly addressed and resolved any issues that arose during our stay. The homemade lasagna from the owners upon arrival was greatly appreciated. Recommendations: Cocojo for pre batched cocktails and mocktails; Ralvin at Awesome Adventure Tours for dune buggy access to Lighthouse Point; Frigate’s new location in Governor’s Harbour!

Everything was very clean and the house itself was equipped with everything we needed. After a long travel time with delays and cancelations we finally made it to the house and Tennille the housekeeper left a home cooked meal for us to eat. That was HIGHLY appreciated! Thank you Tennille! The pool was very nice and clean. The walk to the beach is easy down but it little harder to get back ( you have to hike the hill back up) but we knew that before. A family could stay easily at the house. Overall we would recommend the house to friends. We had a lovely stay

Stupendous!

Tourmaline is simply fantastic. It was perfect for our party of 6 and had every detail we needed. Situated on a gorgeous bluff overlooking the turquoise sea and private beach, it was totally private and absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed lazing by the pool and sunning on the beach. The snorkeling right off the beach is great too. We would return in a heartbeat! Pros: big open spaces inside and huge patio with amazing views, modern amenities, close to town and lots of great beaches, super solid construction (no noise inside even when it got Very windy), pool and grounds are beautiful with lots of hummingbirds, easy access to totally private beach - we never saw another soul, cool and comfortable inside at all times, very comfortable mattresses, Tennielle the manager is super responsive and helpful. Cons (but barely): only two bathrooms, gravel road leading to house isn't in great shape.

Great Place to Escape

We chose Tourmaline for our family vacation and enjoyed every minute of it. This private property has great beach access, perfect views, and all the amenities. We were so happy to get back to Eleuthra! Our accommodations and stay were beyond perfect. Every minute was a dream for each of us The property manager was lovely and very helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the home exquisite - right down to picking our own watermelon between the house and pool. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience - we hope to be back one day!!
