Thunderbird Lodge - Inside the Park

Thunderbird Lodge - Inside the Park

10/10 Excellent
"Our stay at Thunderbird Lodge was unforgettable. How many hotel rooms can you stay in where you can walk outside and be standing on the rim of the Grand Canyon? We were fortunate enough to have a view from our room, but even if your room doesn’t have one, you simply walk out the door and there it is. In my opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful views in the world. Thunderbird is an older hotel, but it’s very well maintained. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had air-conditioning, which was important since we visited in late July. The price was also very reasonable compared with El Tovar. El Tovar is beautiful, and I wish we could have stayed there. It’s definitely worth visiting for its incredible history and having a meal there. I will say that a few of the staff members we encountered seemed to have an attitude that they were better than the guests. Most of the young restaurant workers from around the world were wonderful, though, and it was interesting hearing where they came from and what brought them to the Grand Canyon. Parking is limited around Thunderbird, so don’t expect to park directly in front of the hotel unless you arrive early. You can unload your luggage and then park nearby. But once you’re there, you really don’t need your car. The park shuttle system is extremely convenient. Overall, we absolutely loved Thunderbird Lodge. The location, the view, the comfortable room, the air-conditioning and the reasonable price made it a fantastic choice."

"This place is very charming. The host was very friendly and responsive. The location was great and the views were stunning! There's no oven, but they do have a BBQ outside. The place was mostly very clean. There were some spots at the bottom of the cabinets that could use a deeper clean as there were some droppings. I get it, it's in the middle of the desert. We just made sure to wash the pans in those cabinets before use. Overall it was a great experience."
