Stunning water views of the Connetquot River. Located in the “Idle Hour” section of Oakdale (originally created by Alva & William Vanderbilt in 1878). All six bedrooms have amazing views. The home is a close distance by paddle board down the river from the stately Vanderbilt mansion.

Across the river is the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, providing amazing serene views of nature from inside house, the deck, backyard, and dock. Bird watchers delight! Photographers delight is some of

The house has a hot tub, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, 2 surfboards (take to Fire Island!), dock for your boat (or a rental boat), peaceful views from almost every room! For more historical information about the area, google “Idle Hour Wikipedia”. The house has just been “placed in service” by an experienced operator (check out the reviews of our other VRBO listings #168476 & 7702998). The best sunsets around!

Such a beautiful property! I had a few friends and close family in town for my wedding at Sunset Harbour. Martin, our host, was extremely responsive and answered all my questions before we arrived. The view of the water was amazing, and it was a great place to mingle in between my busy schedule. We didn't get to use the hot tub since we were so busy, but I guess that means my husband and I will just have to return sometime soon!
This swan came super close to the deck. So beautiful!

Lacrosse Trip

The house had lots of space to relax and hang out between lacrosse games. The outdoor space was perfect for grilling, dining and enjoying sunsets. The boys had fun fishing off the dock and playing poker at the game table. The neighborhood was safe and great for walking/jogging.

Beautiful and comfortable him

From the moment you pull up, you’ll want to stay longer. The home is beautiful, spacious, comfortable and well appointed. It easily handled our family of 8-10 with zero issues. The views are to die for, and the back deck will be your new favorite place for morning coffee or sunset meals. The owner was helpful, and easy to work with. We will return again if we can!
