The room was close to everything we needed, including the ferry terminal for the trip to Iona. Oban is a great place to visit and our room at Raniven was a gem. Off street parking so close to the harbour is permitted and we had that. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.

Raniven is a beautiful older building in a row of buildings of similar age and style and it is conveniently located within walking distance of the heart of Oban Although very small, our room still had all the essentials and was quite cozy.

All worked well with getting key to room. 2nd floor was hard with 4 bags. Room was a bit small. Bed was ok. Had an iron and board we needed. Was just a bit tight with all our bags as we were on a big trip. Watch your head on the sloping ceiling!)

We were not given the room we booked. Booked a king room but given a double. Messaged but didn’t receive reply for 24 hours. Carpets are covering bad flooring. Feels like foot would go through beside the bed (side closest to window). Hole in wall. Ended up leaving a day early after fire alarm went off and a plumbing van showed up to check it out. Thankfully another guest called fire department. Sent email about concern and leaving early still haven’t received a response. Definitely not as pictured

Perfect location. Room was good. Nothing fancy...didnt need it to be. Check in was easy and clear instructions were communicated. We were fortunate that adequate parking was on-site. However, note that there are 5 spaces for 6 rooms and all 5 were filled the first night so i dont know if someone missed out or not. There is more parking available in Oban but I am not aware if it would have been free or convenient. Just be aware...
