"Not worth it. Way over priced! We stayed one night. Staff are very nice. But the place is of a by gone era. It’s old but not in a charming way. Showers in the onsen are cold and you have to wait for many minutes in order for hot water to come out. The rooms and elevators are old. the outdoor hotspring is on the top floor with no facilities (you have to go downstairs first and shower) and no real view to speak of. Hotel JAL City Nagano

10/10 Excellent

"I stayed at the JAL for 8 nights and was happy with the service. The location is great as it is a short walk to Zenkoji Temple, the Prefectural Museum and also to Nagano JR Station. Nagano was a fascinating city to visit and the JAL was situated in a good location for finding amenities such as shopping and food. I love to walk and I really enjoyed exploring the area around the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Although my room was rather crowded with 3 beds, it was kept clean and well stocked. My only complaint was that the breakfast for a Westerner was very limited and got predictable very quickly. The food was very good, presented well and tasted fine but after 8 breakfasts eating the same things I was ready for a change."
