I rented this house with my mom, my sister, and our 2 daughters for a long Memorial Day weekend. It was a great house! Pros and cons as follows:
Pros:
- great location with easy accessibility to town for groceries, etc
- great access to the water, literally 10 second hop skip and jump to the dock from the back door
- clean (for the most part, see below for more)
- well maintained house (for the most part, see more below)
Cons:
- common bathroom on main floor has a painted plastic tub (the only tub in the house) - paint was chipping off and the tub did not drain well - if it was clean you would never know it bc it looked really gross - luckily for us, we didn’t really need the tub like you might for bathing little kids - so all showers took place in the master bedroom shower or the shower downstairs
- no direct porch / deck access from the house (except thru the master bedroom which is awkward), had to go outside the front door then around the corner to the deck - while odd, this was not the end of the world
- temperature downstairs was at least 10-15 degrees colder than upstairs, there were plenty of blankets available however, so even this was not a big deal - if you were thinking you would use the downstairs for a family with little kids and or a baby, then you’ll need to dress them for winter to sleep or pile on the blankets
- blanket upstairs for the living room area smelled of BO - hard to get cozy with that scent - I put it in the pile of bedding for them to wash so the next guest should be ok
- no spices , not even salt and pepper - we did a good bit of cooking while we were there and were surprised not to find s&p - again not the end of the world - we bought some and left it there for the next guests
- no lighter - I bought a citronella candle to keep the gnats away on the deck but we could not find a lighter anywhere
While it might seem like there are a lot of cons, this was really a lovely place with just a few oddities. Hence the 5-star rating.
