Good standard hotel but a couple of minus points for me. Firstly it wasn’t easy to find our room as it was far from reception and a few hotel blocks away. The room itself wasn’t 4 star and the shower cubicle was tiny!! Other than that the pool area is excellent and the breakfast was really good

Abbiamo trascorso un piacevole weekend all'Hotel dei Basiliani a Otranto e siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti. La struttura è curata, accogliente e situata in una posizione comoda per raggiungere il centro e il mare. La camera era spaziosa e pulita, la colazione varia e di qualità, e tutto il personale si è dimostrato gentile, professionale e sempre disponibile. È stato un soggiorno rilassante e piacevole. Se torneremo a Otranto, prenderemo sicuramente in considerazione questa struttura.

Huge property with truly spacious rooms. Amazing terraces, basic but good breakfast buffet. (Eggs, bread, bacon, fruit, pancakes, juice) The staff was helpful and friendly specially the restaurant waitress. Definitely comong back again!

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. The room was super clean, with amazing facilities and balcony. Only a 15 to 20 min walk into the old town. The pool area was great, and we also made use of the spa which was very relaxing.

O hotel é péssimo. Para chegar ao quarto precisávamos pegar 4 elevadores diferentes. Cheio de escadas , sobe e desce para cá e para lá; os quartos melhores ficam mais perto da recepção e os standard mais longe, mas isto não está descrito quando se faz a reserva. Se você tiver qualquer problema de mobilidade, fuja deste hotel. O box do banheiro é minúsculo, mal dá para se mexer. A cama não é confortável. O café da manhã até tinha uma boa variedade, mas nada realmente delicioso. No geral o hotel todo é muito decepcionante.

Séjour en famille très agréable. La piscine est juste top de quoi bien se reposer. Le petit déjeuner est parfait avec un choix très varié. Le personnel est très serviable. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel.

Great place for a relaxing vacation. On walking distance from Otranto. The hotel is offering a great looking pool with enough beds and umbrellas poolside. Rooms are very clean with enough space. Very helpful staff. If there is a small downside to be mentioned, it is in the way the hotel has been build with different levels and stairs (elevators available).

Nice modern property, fairly large hotel so does lack the intimacy of a smaller hotel. Dinners were quite good and the waitress in the dining area was wonderful. The old bartender in the lobby is a grump. Good spot to use for touring the area. South on the coast road was amazing. 15-minute walk to town, so handy to have a car or taxi.

The hotel itself is a clean resort with a beautiful swimming pool, one of few in the area you can actually use to swim laps and spend all afternoon in. Unfortunately however the hotel is completely let down by the rooms, the beds, the rude young staff and the lack of assistance. We stayed for 3 nights and managed to get next to no sleep throughout our entire stay due to the beds feeling similar to sleeping on concrete. On the first day we knew we were going to struggle, however we wanted to give everything a fair chance, so we waited for the second night and we did not sleep at all due to the discomfort. My partner discussed the issue with reception and was faced with rude dismissive staff, who ignored the fact that I have a disability which was made worse by the lack of sleep and general stiffness. We were told that the hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t be moved, and nothing could be done other than a mattress topper. The topper was handed to us and was clearly old, the filling was balled up in each section leading to even more discomfort. At this point we looked for a new hotel for the final night and realised rooms were available but only suites, which we would have paid for, but we were lied to. The bedroom was incredibly small with no privacy, and the room unlocked from a wallet containing only bank cards, which we realised when we got in and saw we had left the kesecure room key. The staff are snobbish and only polite to older couples and families.

Plan Carefully

My first impressions were that this is a well- appointed and sophisticated resort. The design is beautiful, but be aware that the entire resort is terraced off into multiple levels, so there is lots of stairs. However, there are some strategically located elevators for those that have trouble navigating flights of stairs. My stay was during the first weekend of October 2024 and little did I know, that this is already considered the “off-season“. While that means more affordable lodging rates, it also means a muted vibe and a reduced level of services I’d expect in a 4-star resort. Moreover, the resort is situated outside of town and a visit to the seafront, restaurants , and shops meant a 15 to 20 minute walk. While the resort does have a shuttle van, it was not in operation to transport guests to/from the seafront or the train station (I walked a mile/1.6 km with luggage from the station on check-in day). Uber was not available and no local buses were running in October. The on-site restaurant was mediocre, with the exception of the breakfast which was great! There are 2 tiny bars, but a full-service lounge is needed. But despite these criticisms for the resort as a whole, I must say that ALL of the staff I interacted with during my stay was friendly, professional and accommodating. They exhibited pride in what they did for guests. Overall, I would still recommend a stay here. But be sure to ask a lot of questions about seasonal services before you book or visit.

Nydelig hotell med gåavstand til gamlebyen, fantastisk frokost og hyggelig personale. Litt langt fra Bari, vi leide bil og brukte ca 3 timer til hotellet. Med leiebil hadde vi et fint utgangspunkt for dagsturer til Gallipolli, Lecce og Roca Vecchia.

Sterile Atmosphäre, schlechtes Raumklima (Beton), keine Bar am Abend, uninteressiertes Personal. Der Weg in den Ort führt steil den Berg hinab und im Ort dann wieder auf eine Burg hinauf. Die über Expedia vermarteten Zimmer sind ohne Kategorie angeboten als sogenannte „Promo-Rooms“. Vor Ort stellen sie sich als Basis-Zimmer heraus: sehr klein, dunkel, einfach ausgestattet und abgelegen. Es waren diverse Ebenen unter Benutzung von fünf (!) Aufzügen zu überwinden. Ein Upgrade auf die sogenannten Superior-Zimmer kostete 20 Euro pro Person und Nacht und nivellierte den scheinbaren Kostenvorteil des Angebots. Die Art und Weise, wie die Upgrades vermarktet wurden, konnten wir bei zahlreichen Anreisenden beobachten. Achten Sie darauf, welche Zimmerkategorie sie buchen. Nicht weniger als „Superior“ buchen.

Hotel ubicato a 10' a piedi dal centro di Otranto. Struttura ben organizzata, divisa in più edifici. Stanze ben arredate, un piccolo fastidio i bagni, non ben insonorizzate con la stanza confinante. Ottima igienizzione della stanza. Piscina posta in un parte dell'hotel, dove la privacy fa da padrone. Spa incantevole, con tutti i confort dovuti. Ristorante degli ulivi, collocato vicino la piscina, personale disponibile e professionali, deliziandolci con menù locali e ben impiantati. Colazione abbondante, servito dagli stessi operatori di sala. Reception, gentilissimi e disponibili a qualsiasi richiesta di loro competenza. Siamo stati bene e ci siamo rilassati.
